Oh it's been a long, long week and weekend...

And unfortunately that's not 'long weekend' as in: It was loads of fun.

No, I managed to stay sick for over a week and I'm still not at 100% and don't expect that I will be until Wed or Thursday at the moment, but the worst of the bronchial infection appears to be over.  This is absolutely the sickest I have been in at least 10-15 years.  I mean, the first few days, I didn't even play video games.  That's like deathbed illness there I tell you.

But, over the weekend I did log some pretty heavy game time between Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, Game of Thrones on Steam, Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 on Steam and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 for the PS3.

I am hoping to get reviews of those last three up fairly soon.  I'm nearly done with Naruto - I'm in the last chapter, and I have gotten through a couple of modes in MTG but am only about halfway through Game of Thrones.

My son and I are also starting a small project, where he is going to make a small gaming blog of his own.  He probably won't be posting anywhere near as frequently or as in-depth as me, but I figure it's a good writing activity for him now that school's out and he can learn a bit about HTML, video and image editing, things like that.

He and I are also being abandoned by my wife and the girls the week of the 4th, and have decided during that week to play through as many of our games as we can that have co-op campaign modes.  That should be fun as most of these are games that have been on my backlog and will lead to some reviews and also give us something fun to do together that week.

So, what did you play over the weekend?  Have anything new and exciting you've been digging into?  What about coming up?  Do you have any games you are anticipating getting to play over the next couple of weeks?

I knew there was a reason I posted so many last week! It was so you could lay in bed, and just flick the flings on that iPad viewing the data numbers...because we all know, data number stories don't cause migraines and are almost an insta-heal!

This post, and your "That's like deathbed illness there I tell you." comment made me remember a post I did last year...which you commented in about your being sick. It's always fun going back and seeing comments.

That's cool, you never know, his fiddling with the project could start him off on a writing/coding career, even more depending how he likes the video/photo editing. It's always interesting to see how different people take to different things. I'll keep an eye (or two) open for any news on it.

As for the weekend, I played some more Punch-Out!! last night, and played some more Super Mario Bros. 3 earlier in the evening. Nothing on Saturday, and more Punch-Out!! I believe Friday.

I plan on attempting Far Cry 2 at some point on the PS3, and a few of the PC games I have on my Steam account as well, but nothing really as for getting...though I might be giving a game rental service a try. But it's going to be a super busy July, so probably not until August for that.

Now, off to do some quick chores, then work!

  2. To do work?! Well that's no fun!

Far Cry 2 huh? My son's played it some, and I nabbed it as a PlayStation Plus download for free on Valentine's day - is that hen you got it?

Glad to hear you have been enjoying your new Punch Out!! game - it's a lot of fun in my opinion, though I found myself using the traditional controls for the harder bosses than the motion ones. I just felt like I needed more precision.

Yeah, being suck absolutely sucked - and this was probably a lot worse than last year's. Probably as sick as I've been in over a decade. Good times! :P

I'm really excited to see what, if any of this, my son takes to. He's very computer literate (thankfully) and he has posted a few YouTube videos in the past, that sort of thing. Maybe none of it sticks, but here's hoping some does.

Nope. A friend has loaned it to me, for a good long while now. So, I'm going to try and beat it hear soon, and return it back to him.

As for Punch-Out!!, I'm using the traditional controls only right now, and might give the motion controls a go later.

  4. Ugh, sorry to hear about you being that sick.

For the weekend, and lately in general, it's been pretty light. I fired up a few demos from last Thursday (spiderman, Kingdom Hearts), but didn't do much else.
