• Culdcept the First - Xbox Review

Culdcept the First (also attributed as Culdcept the First Saturn Tribute) is a very fun game, that does show its age. This is basically a re-issue of the 1997 Sega Saturn game that mashes together deckbuilding (think Magic: The Gathering) and boardgames (such as Monopoly).

  • NBA 2K27 - PlayStation 5 Review

With these annual seasonal renewals of the sports season comes the related video games as well, and the question reviewers such as myself always face is this: Is this year’s game worth purchasing one year after the last one? My answer? Yes, absolutely. NBA fans are going to almost certainly enjoy NBA 2K27.

  • Midnight Moments - PC Steam Review

Midnight Moments is a cozy cyberpunk diorama-building game that is stunning. Unlike games that require you to complete quests or take out assailants or even solve challenging puzzles, this one only requires one thing: imagination.

  • Isle of Reveries - PC Review

Isle of Reveries is a top down 2D action adventure game that made my nostalgia for old school Zelda games flare up really hard. A good blending of puzzle, exploration, and combat, Isle of Reveries is a wonderful title to experience inside and out.

  • Outbound - PC Review

Let me tell you about this cozy game my daughter and I are playing together called Outbound. Now, I've been following this game from the initial Kickstarter back in April 2025 to its full release in May 2026. The best Mother's Day gift for myself and my first ever collector's edition in a physical copy!

In OVER REQUIEMZ Yuhiru is thrown into the castle of Oz and is immediately accused of trying to assassinate the King and shoved into the dungeon. Not only is she treated like a criminal...

  • Dread Delusion - Xbox Series X|S Review

Today we’re looking at what has rapidly become an absolute favorite in the open-world RPG genre for me. An interesting story, memorable NPCs, stunning visuals, and a setting absolutely dripping with flavor, Dread Delusion sets its tone immediately and sticks with it.

  • NHL 27 - PS5 Review

...and I have been playing NHL games since. It didn't matter whether it was EA or another game like 2K in the 2000s; I loved hockey games and still do, but is NHL 27 a step in the right direction?

  • Asdivine Knot - PS5 Review

Gloomhaven Releases in Early Access with Launch Trailer!

PARIS - July 17, 2019 - Asmodee Digital is kicking off Early Access for Gloomhaven today. The Tactical RPG game is available for $24.99 during Early Access.

The launch trailer showcases two of the four mercenaries available at the beginning of the Early Access as they face a Night Demon. Or so they thought… As players will experience in the dark fantasy world of Gloomhaven, “from gloom only greed & death emerge.”

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have the privilege of bringing Gloomhaven to Steam. It’s one of the most acclaimed board games and is a perfect addition to our digital catalogue,” said Pierre Ortolan, CEO of Asmodee Digital. “We're working hand-in-hand with Flaming Fowl Studios, a talented studio whose vast experience includes the Fables series, and the original board game designer, Isaac Childres. Paired with our board game DNA and digital expertise, we are confident that Gloomhaven’s Early Access will allow us to build, together with the players, the best Tactical RPG experience for the full release.”

Gloomhaven, from Board Game to Digital: The Masterpiece of Tactical RPG

As a board game, Gloomhaven has raised $4.4 million on Kickstarter thanks to more than 45,000 backers. Designed by Isaac Childres, the Gloomhaven board game has been acclaimed by both players and critics alike, achieving the highest rating on BoardGameGeek and winning six Golden Geek awards, including “Board Game of the Year” in 2017.

The digital adaptation, developed by Flaming Fowl Studios, allows players to play as a squad of two to four mercenaries, in a world of darkness and trials. Its legendary unforgiving difficulty rewards only the sharpest strategic minds. Bringing the lore, game mechanics and identity of the beloved board game into the digital era, Gloomhaven will leverage all the benefits of the PC platform.

At the start of Early Access, players are able to experience a new exclusive Adventure Mode based on roguelike mechanics, combining both turn-based combat and exploration, with four mercenaries available at the start. The roster of characters, enemies and bosses, each including their own abilities, will expand on a regular basis during Early Access, along with additional environments, quests, items and more.

Players are able to experience the unforgiving world of Gloomhaven through different difficulty levels, delivering an optimal experience for beginners while allowing experts to use the original board game settings. The full Campaign from the original board game, along with the multiplayer Coop mode, will be available when the full game is launched.

The price of the game during Early Access won’t increase due to the additional features and content added during its development. Gloomhaven’s Early Access will be cheaper than its full launch, as the latter will offer more features and content.

Players who purchased the game during Early Access will not be charged extra at full release, when the game will be priced higher, thus being rewarded for joining Gloomhaven earlier and contributing to the game’s success.

Nightcrawler Scoundrel, the first of the four free skins for the Early Access starting mercenaries is also released today. All skins will be unlockable through challenges that will be announced at a later date, and will be made available for free to all Early Access purchasers. The skins are cosmetic-only, allowing players to select a new appearance during character selection.

Isaac Childres, designer of the original board game, has been closely involved in the development and design of the digital adaptation, with every artistic and design choice personally vetted by him.

Early Access: Starting-Point of a Community Journey

The team at Asmodee Digital are huge fans of the original board game and are striving to offer the best digital Gloomhaven experience possible. To this end, the game will first start in Early Access, allowing our team to fine-tune and improve the game based on players’ feedback. Working together with the community, the team is confident the digital Gloomhaven experience will do justice to the masterpiece board game we all love.

The team is aware that this is just the beginning of a journey, hand-in-hand with the Gloomhaven community, and not the final product. Content and features will be added on a regular basis, new bugs will be solved as they are discovered. At the start of the Early Access, the initial experience will appeal mostly to players with Tactical RPG experience, or those familiar with the original board game. The onboarding phase will be much smoother later in the Early Access phase, as the team aims to welcome more and more people to discover and enjoy the depth of Gloomhaven’s gameplay, without compromising the original experience.

The team has strong ambitions for the digital Gloomhaven game. The included roadmap gives an overview of what is planned. This is of course indicative, as the community feedback will play a key role in the game’s development during Early Access and the team has several nice surprises planned for the future.

Gloomhaven starts its Early Access on July 17th and is available for $24.99. For more information about the game, feel free to visit Steam.

The Official Gloomhaven Discord server is available here.

One Drop Bot Now Available to Purchase!

Rydal, GA — April 25th, 2019: David Draper Jr aka Playing with Color, a solo independent developer, is releasing his 3D puzzle platformer One Drop Bot on Steam, Itch.io, Game Jolt, and Kartridge. Harkening back to the difficulty of retro 2D platformers, One Drop Bot attempts to bring that kind of gameplay into a 3D environment. This brings a new kind of difficulty that is sure to satisfy those who are looking for a refreshing challenge.

“I found the simple yet at times frustrating challenge in many old 2D platformers quite satisfying. I also love playing 3D games and working in a 3D environment. One day I was playing one of those old retro games, and I felt inspired to bring a similar experience into 3D”, said David Draper Jr, “One Drop Bot is my attempt to marry these two concepts. To create a 3D challenge like what can be found in many retro games, that was my goal.”

Playing a cute yet somewhat creepy robot, the player travels from one room to the next. Each room has a new challenge in order to keep the game fresh. Each one will test the player’s skill with tricky platforming and tough puzzles.

Collecting health throughout the game is key, because when the player dies, all health collected up to that point is kept. That means that at respawn, all health ever collected respawns as well. The catch, however, is that the player has to start over at the very beginning of the game, similar to a rogue-like.

Special attention was given to the controls of One Drop Bot. Many games have a smoothing factor when moving, but there is very little to no smoothing factors here, making the movement one to one with the input. This gives the player full control. A lot of effort was put into the camera as well, making it as non intrusive to the player as possible.

Get One Drop Bot on Steam, Itch.io, GameJolt, or Kartridge.

Project Nimbus: Complete Edition Headed for the Switch!

PROJECT NIMBUS: COMPLETE EDITION BRINGS HIGH-FLYING MECHA COMBAT TO THE NINTENDO SWITCH

INDIE CULT HIT COMES TO THE WEST ON MAY 16

Tokyo, Japan, April 25, 2019 — Japanese publisher GameTomo is very proud to announce the release date for Project Nimbus: Complete Edition on the Nintendo Switch. The anime-inspired mech combat game is slated for a May 16th worldwide release on the Switch. This version of the game includes new content never-before-seen in the United States and Europe, sure to please Western fans of high-speed robot action.

Project Nimbus: Complete Edition is the latest version of the cult mecha game, originally designed and developed by GameCrafterTeam and GameTomo. This version features the original’s full story and combat alongside new modes that had previously not made it to American or European shelves.

The game is set in a far future Earth where three factions fight for the remains of the planet using powerful Battle Frames; classic mecha inspired by the creators’ love of Japanese anime. These Battle Frames take part in fast-paced combat across a variety of battlefields on the ground, high in the sky, and even in space.

Two new modes supplement the original’s content for this release: an improved Survival mode and WARFRONT. In Survival, players will fight against endless waves of foes to cement their standing as an Ace mecha pilot. In WARFRONT, objective-based missions up the ante by requiring the player to survive against infinite odds in a never-ending assault.

Thanks to the Switch versatility, players will be able to utilize their Joy-cons to experience the best of what Project Nimbus has to offer or stay mobile and take to the skies around the house or on the go. Project Nimbus is also Pro Controller compatible for an even richer flying experience.

The announcement trailer which can be viewed here showcases Project Nimbus’ high-tech style and the breakneck speed of its combat.

“We’re so excited to finally bring this remastered edition of Project Nimbus to our fans in the west. We’re proud to have such a supportive community and we can’t wait to reward their patience,” says Reece Scott, CEO of GameTomo.

Project Nimbus Key Features

  • High-speed battle action, piloting heavily armored Battle Frames through the war torn skies.
  • Twenty-six missions in a variety of locations, including floating cities, ocean fortresses, mountain bases, futuristic prisons, and battles in space.
  • Over a dozen playable Battle Frames with weapons including smart missiles, energy blades, particle cannons, floating energy shields, railguns and autonomous psychodrones.
  • A sprawling storyline with battles between three different factions over a war-torn futuristic planet: the US-lead CFN, the Russia-led UCN, and the shadowy terrorist Children of Fallen Nations.
  • Complex bosses each with a unique fighting style, including orbiting nuclear battle mechs, bands of deadly pilots, and weaponized flying ships.
  • Missiles, rail guns and cannons for long range combat...energy blades and blade rushes for melee!
  • Bonus Survival Mode lets you choose from an entire hangar of Battle Frames, and then you must battle endless waves of enemies with increasing power.
  • WARFRONT mode includes massive replayability with six unlimited mission modes including Base Defense, Interception, and Assassination. Six levels of pilot (including Legendary) and Battle Frame customization will keep you playing for hours more.

LGBTQ+ Video Gaming Magazine Launches June 1st

Gayming Magazine will be the go-to online resource for the LGBTQ+ video game community, providing news, reviews and stories about the video games world. The online magazine was introduced to industry and press at a London Games Festival Fringe event on Thursday 11 April and launches to the public on 1st June.

***

Friday, April 12, 2019 — LGBTQ+ positivity is still a challenge in the video game world. The industry is very hetero-dominated, and most games adopt an “assumed straight” starting point for their characters, although there has been a notable improvement with some titles in recent years. Issues around homophobia in the mainstream video game player community have also been widely reported. Despite this, LGBTQ+ people enjoy video games and have built whole communities around being a “gaymer”.

Launching globally on 1st June, Gayming Magazine will be the conduit between the community and the industry. Providing news, reviews, features and more, Gayming Magazine will look at the video games world with a queer twist.

Additionally, the Magazine’s focus will also be on bringing people together. Whether that is helping people connect with their local gaymer group, or by bringing the industry closer to the community through interviews and features on LGBTQ+ companies, developers or other notables.

With a diverse roster of writers and contributors from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, Gayming Magazine promises to be an exciting companion website to the entertainment world.

Robin Gray, Founder of Gayming Magazine, said: “I’m so excited for everyone to see Gayming Magazine in June! For too long, the LGBTQ+ community has sat on the fringe of the video games community, carving out their own niche. We want to celebrate that niche while also working with the community and with the industry to bring the two halves closer together, ensuring LGBTQ+ people feel welcome, included and represented within the gaming world they adore so much.”

“I’m grateful for the support of Ukie and Games London for giving us the platform to launch from during this year’s London Games Festival”

To keep up to date with everything Gayming, visit www.gaymingmag.com and sign up for updates. You can also follow @GaymingMag on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Pixel Engineers Releasing Hunt 'N Sneak in April 2019

7 MARCH 2019 - Developers Pixel Engineers have today revealed their chaotic party game Hunt 'n Sneak - a game in which light is both friend and foe - will launch onto PC via Steam on Wednesday 10th April.

Alongside the announcement comes a brand new trailer showcasing the game's striking art style and frantic gameplay.

Hunt 'n Sneak is a manic couch co-op multiplayer game set in a world of mythical creatures. Players take on the roles of either the fearsome Gobbler as it tries to devour the Pixies and take over their world; or as the mischievous Pixies, who use pings of light to navigate their surroundings and escape the Gobblers. You'll have to play smart if you want to win as you pursue, evade or outwit your opposition.

Hunt ‘n Sneak started life as an experimental game jam at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment in Melbourne, Victoria. During this time, the game had the working title of Ping and is no stranger to awards after winning first place in the game jam’s category of ‘Couch Multiplayer’.

Since then, Pixel Engineers have transformed Hunt 'n Sneak into a fully-fledged, energetic multiplayer experience, playable by up to four players simultaneously.

James Koehne, founder of Pixel Engineers, said: "Stealth, intense chases, and jukes for days are just some of the things you'll be frantically doing in Hunt 'n Sneak. As we build up to the launch of the game we are ready to take the next step in the game's journey and I can't wait to show the game to everyone!"

Hunt 'n Sneak will be released for PC via Steam on Wednesday 10th April 2018, priced at $19.99 USD.

Check out Pixel Engineers social media on Twitter and Facebook. Hunt 'N Sneak has an Official Webpage.

About Hunt 'n Sneak

Light is both friend and foe in Hunt 'n Sneak - a manic party game set in a realm where mystical and magical creatures dwell. Home to the peaceful (albeit mischievous) Pixies, the realm is threatened by terrifying beasts. Darkness rises as Gobblers from a far-off land with a taste for Pixies try to overrun their kingdoms.

In Hunt 'n Sneak, one player must take control of a Gobbler, a fearsome invader of the Pixie realms. The remaining players control the mischievous Pixies, who are doing their best to survive by hiding in the shadows.

As a Pixie, use bursts of light known as 'pings' to navigate the environment. Each time a Pixie pings, however, their location is temporarily revealed to the Gobbler. For the Gobblers to be victorious they must devour each of the Pixies within the allocated time. In order for the Pixies to claim their victory, at least one of them must survive until the very end of the game.

Features

  • Gather family and friends to play with up to four players locally or online.
  • Explore a number of captivating maps including the Murky Cave, an Abandoned Mansion, an Enchanted Forest and a Ruined Castle.
  • As a Pixie, try to follow your movements through each environment and evade the Gobbler using your ping; each ping emits an illuminating light to help you navigate your surroundings. Pick up Moon Drops along the way to give you special abilities!

As the Gobbler, pursue the Pixies using Pixie revealing lights. Revel in their fright as you hunt them down before gobbling them up with your attack.

About Pixel Engineers

Pixel Engineers is a Melbourne based indie game dev studio comprised of three graduates from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE). Each member has continued to work effectively and enthusiastically within and around the games industry in Melbourne and they are currently working on their debut title Hunt 'n Sneak.

Levelhead Enters Early Access in April 2019!

St. Louis, MO — March 7, 2019 — Levelhead, the cooperative level-building platformer from the DICE Award-nominated team at Butterscotch Shenanigans, launches on Steam Early Access in April 2019.

Welcome to the Bureau of Shipping! As a member of the universe’s premiere delivery service, you’ll make sure the galaxy’s packages are delivered on time, every time, even if it costs your pension (and maybe your life, didn’t you read the small print?). But don’t worry! Your faithful GR-18 robot will handle the hard stuff, like navigating outlandish hand-crafted levels in a fully-fledged campaign.

Each level tasks the GR-18 with taking a package to the delivery zone. This package is your new best friend. Protect the package. Love the package. Use the package’s silly little face as a stepping stool when convenient. Having trouble reaching the drop-off point? Powerups like the Quantum Electrodongle let the GR-18 warp through space and go through walls, while the Juice Drive serves as a jetpack. Up to four players can cooperate in the campaign mode, so recruit some friends onto the delivery squad.

The campaign offers deliciously snappy platforming with tight controls, but it also serves as a level-building tutorial. That’s right — while your little buddy repeatedly explodes by face-planting directly onto spikes and getting attacked by robotic creatures, you’ll learn valuable life lessons! The campaign mode gradually introduces new level-building elements, showing how they can be effectively used in a natural, intuitive way.

When it’s time to flex those creative muscles, hop into the Workshop and start the glorious process of level creation. With a ridiculously easy-to-use interface, stages can be as simple or complex as you want. Build a breezy, atmospheric stage or a chaotic, controller-crushing gauntlet. More than 100 different creative elements, three biomes, and game-changing powerups allow for intricate ideas like disappearing platforms, secret areas, switch-based mechanics and much more. Four players can create levels together to make the craziest ideas less daunting.

Satisfied with your beautiful new level-baby? Publish it and send it off to the world! All levels have multiple tags assigned to them, making it easy as space pie to find something that floats your boat. Leaderboards track the best runs, meaning there’s always a record for you to destroy. Subscribe to other Levelheads to curate your own feed of content while also becoming a well-known creator yourself.

“Levelhead started its life as a more traditional game that put satisfying platforming above everything else,” said Sam Coster, co-founder Butterscotch Shenanigans. “After we saw the potential of our level editor, we just couldn’t stop making it bigger and bigger. Seriously, please help us.”

Levelhead will be available on Steam Early Access for $19.99 this April in English, with Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android launching later this year.

PLYMOUTH, Mich., Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ - Stardock and Mohawk Games released a free multiplayer client for their critically acclaimed real-time strategy game, Offworld Trading Company. A new DLC called Market Corrections that focuses on why humans fled the Earth also released today.

Offworld Trading Company is an economic strategy game by Soren Johnson, lead designer for Civilization IV. Players are trying to build a corporation on Mars, but the competition is fierce - others are standing in the way of success, and victory is hard-earned through mastering and manipulating the Martian stock market.

Players who enjoy the free multiplayer mode can upgrade to the core version of the game to gain access to the campaign, daily challenges, and skirmish mode.

The Market Corrections DLC tells the story of why Earth needed to colonize Mars through the eyes of the people currently trying to survive there. It features new single-player narrative campaigns that focus on three different CEOs - Reni-6, Ilana Kamat, and Frank Dawson.

Reni-6 is trying to convince humans that robots aren't all bad. Ilana Kamat is running the company for her mentor while he researches the algorithm that wiped out technology on Earth, while Frank Dawson works to clear the reputations of Mars' penal colonists.

Market Corrections also contains 12 new maps modeled after various locations on Mars, including the pointed formations of Two Points Lakebed, the cratered land of Mangala Valles, the deep canyon of Mangala Fossa, and more.
