The Mortal Kombat games have a creepy, gruesome aesthetic that lends itself to the horror of Halloween season. I hop on to play this title still just about daily, and the newly released Terminator character has given me good reason to spend even more time with this title than usual of late. Combine that with the divisive (yet in my opinion, delicious) pumpkin beer season, and we have our next seasonally appropriate entry into Beeps and Beers.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - PS4 Review

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is a worthy sequel to the original Shadow of Mordor game in many ways, but it manages to fall short in a handful of others that are impossible to completely dismiss. That is a shame, since Mordor was my contender for Game of the Year when it released, and I had high, similar hopes for Shadow of War that unfortunately doesn't reach those lofty expectations I had hope for.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and White Noise - Beeps and Beers
August 12, 2016Beeps and Beers, Cigar City Brewing, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, Perrin Brewing Company, Traveller's Tales, TT Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, White Noise
This week my mind is on collaboration. Now, I have been playing a lot of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - both parts one and two. My reviews on those two titles went live earlier this week, but I also found myself wanting to play something a little whimsical, a little Marvel - and found myself firing up LEGO Marvel Super Heroes again this week. Honestly LEGO with almost any property seems like a good idea, but the Marvel games are among my favorites their collaboration has produced. On a similar note, I tried a new beer last weekend called White Noise - a collaboration between two of my favorite breweries in Perrin Brewing Company and Cigar City Brewing.
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Mac Review
August 09, 2016CGRreview, Feral Interactive, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mac, review, Traveller's Tales, TT Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens shows that while the familiar LEGO formula is still holding strong and entertaining, there is room for growth as the developers manage to take some chances that pay off more often than not.
LEGO Dimensions - PS4 Review
January 12, 2016LEGO Dimensions, PS4, review, Sony PlayStation 4, Traveller's Tales, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
LEGO. Those tiny blocks that by themselves are truly nothing more than colored plastic designed to hurt like hell when they are stepped on in the middle of the night. Combined together though and they open up a multiverse of imaginative possibilities that can take children and even the grouchiest of adults on adventures of fun. LEGO Dimensions takes this multiverse and puts it both into a digital and physical format taking the ideas created from Toys For Bob (Skylanders) and the more recent Disney Infinity one step further.
Mad Max - PS4 Review
September 29, 2015Avalanche Studios, Mad Max, PS4, review, Sony PlayStation 4, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
I went into Mad Max really hoping I would enjoy it. Shadow of Mordor was great last year. I love GTA. Bits and pieces of the open world environment, systems, violence - all of it should have clicked for me, but it just never quite did. I spent an extra week and a half playing through the game before writing this review, hoping against hope that the experience would improve for me, but it never did.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - Mac Review
August 05, 2015Feral Interactive, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, Mac, review, TT Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
The Fantastic Four. The X-Men. The Avengers. About the only way to get them on the same screen together is in video game form (due to the mess that is the Marvel movie rights). While that is a source of frustration for fans of the Marvel movies, at least the video games seem to be able to get it right as LEGO marvel Super Heroes for the Mac provides over a hundred different characters to romp through adventures with.
LEGO Worlds - PC Preview
July 27, 2015LEGO Worlds, pc, preview, Traveller's Tales, TT Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Lego worlds is one of those games that has huge potential but forgets a key piece of human psychology: we like things more if we work for it.
Lego worlds drops your khaki clad adventurer into a world created entirely out of Lego blocks. Which made me cringe a little remembering all the unfortunate encounters my feet have had with the little things. Like Minecraft, there aren’t any tutorials, you’re basically just left to run willy nilly around the biome and bash things.

LEGO Jurassic World - Mac Review
July 15, 2015Feral Interactive, LEGO Jurassic World, Mac Review, TT Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Dinosaurs. LEGOs. Those two things alone should spark the imagination of almost any kid - I certainly recall them coming together frequently in my childhood, and they seem like a perfect pairing for a video game as well. That the recent Jurassic World movie was such a huge success should only reinforce the likelihood that the game is well-received. The good news is, the video game holds up quite well as a creative, kid-friendly take on the movie.
Mortal Kombat X - PS4 Review
April 21, 2015Mortal Kombat X, NetherRealm Studios, PS4 Review, Sony PlayStation 4, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Mortal Kombat 9 took some major chances when it came out several years ago, but those chances paid off in spades as the team at NetherRealm Studios managed to breathe new life into the fighting series. Mortal Kombat X does not stray terribly far from that formula, but it does refine it in making the best Mortal Kombat game to date.
LEGO Jurassic World roars into action with its first trailer
LEGO.
Dinosaurs.
I think just about every kid had some combination of those things in their playrooms and now we have the first look at the upcoming video game.

LEGO The Hobbit - Xbox One Review
As a child, building toys such as Erector Sets, K’NEX, and LEGO would keep me entertained for hours as I found new ways to use the pieces to bring my ideas to life. While growing older, that fascination moved away from the physical world and into a digital one, where video games would fill that same role. Despite that transition, I had never played any of the long line of LEGO games that have been released over the last few years. The release of LEGO: The Hobbit finally broke that seal, as it combined my love of the toy itself, and fond memories of growing up reading J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series with my dad. But does the game do an effective job of combining these elements into an enjoyable package?
