• Culdcept the First - Xbox Review

Culdcept the First (also attributed as Culdcept the First Saturn Tribute) is a very fun game, that does show its age. This is basically a re-issue of the 1997 Sega Saturn game that mashes together deckbuilding (think Magic: The Gathering) and boardgames (such as Monopoly).

  • NBA 2K27 - PlayStation 5 Review

With these annual seasonal renewals of the sports season comes the related video games as well, and the question reviewers such as myself always face is this: Is this year’s game worth purchasing one year after the last one? My answer? Yes, absolutely. NBA fans are going to almost certainly enjoy NBA 2K27.

  • Midnight Moments - PC Steam Review

Midnight Moments is a cozy cyberpunk diorama-building game that is stunning. Unlike games that require you to complete quests or take out assailants or even solve challenging puzzles, this one only requires one thing: imagination.

  • Isle of Reveries - PC Review

Isle of Reveries is a top down 2D action adventure game that made my nostalgia for old school Zelda games flare up really hard. A good blending of puzzle, exploration, and combat, Isle of Reveries is a wonderful title to experience inside and out.

  • Outbound - PC Review

Let me tell you about this cozy game my daughter and I are playing together called Outbound. Now, I've been following this game from the initial Kickstarter back in April 2025 to its full release in May 2026. The best Mother's Day gift for myself and my first ever collector's edition in a physical copy!

  • OVER REQUIEMZ - Nintendo Switch Review

In OVER REQUIEMZ Yuhiru is thrown into the castle of Oz and is immediately accused of trying to assassinate the King and shoved into the dungeon. Not only is she treated like a criminal...

  • Dread Delusion - Xbox Series X|S Review

Today we’re looking at what has rapidly become an absolute favorite in the open-world RPG genre for me. An interesting story, memorable NPCs, stunning visuals, and a setting absolutely dripping with flavor, Dread Delusion sets its tone immediately and sticks with it.

  • NHL 27 - PS5 Review

...and I have been playing NHL games since. It didn't matter whether it was EA or another game like 2K in the 2000s; I loved hockey games and still do, but is NHL 27 a step in the right direction?

  • Asdivine Knot - PS5 Review

Asdivine Knot is the latest title in the Kemco JRPG library. Following protagonist Verselio, who's on the run from the church that they once served, he'll be accompanied by an odd selection of party members as they all find a reason to band together…

  • STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT - PC Review

Our story begins in Akihabra, Tokyo Japan. The protagonist Okarin… Or rather Rintaro Okabe, (Voiced by Mamoru Minyano) is a recent high school graduate who rents an apartment with his best friend and resident computer hacker, Itaru ‘Daru’ Hashida (Voiced by Tomokazu Seki) during the summer of 2010.

Upcoming Curse of Strahd is exciting news for Ravenloft fans

I got my start with Dungeons & Dragons when a buddy introduced me to the Dragonlance campaign. Over the years our core group played a lot of different campaigns from a variety of different settings, but perhaps none of them stuck with me nearly as effectively as the Gothic horror of Ravenloft.

Magic Duels: Origins - Xbox One Review

Magic: The Gathering and I go back a long ways, so I leap at almost every chance to play a new iteration of the collectable card game whenever I can. Having played every one of the yearly iterations of Duels of the Planeswalkers, I held out hopes that Magic Duels: Origins would get things right this time. Unfortunately it is a case of one step forward and two steps back that makes this a middling release that failed to keep my attention.

Dungeons & Dragons - Elemental Evil: Princes of the Apocalypse - Tabletop and Board Games Review

It has been a little while since our last Dungeons & Dragons review. We have covered just about everything from the Next/5th age set that has been released, including even the DM screen. It looks like this will be a busy year for the team at Wizards of the Coast, but this particular release has been among the items I have been most excited by. Best of all? It has lived up to my expectations.

Magic Duels will be a new type of Magic: The Gathering game

I talked about Magic Origins recently in another preview, but now we have even more information on what is sure to be a popular release.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dungeon Master's Screen - Tabletop and Board Games Review

Ah... the Dungeon Master's screen. A DM's bastion of privacy when rolling the dice or referencing maps. I have seen and owned a lot of different ones over the years - including having fashioned several of my own as well. With the handful of new Dungeons & Dragons materials released over the last year, it was only a matter of time until we received a new DM screen as well.

Dungeons & Dragons makes some announcements for 2015

Wizards of the Coast had a pretty big year in 2014 with lots of new content for Dungeons & Dragons (all of which we covered here in our reviews). Today plans for both the tabletop games and the Neverwinter MMO have been announced and it sounds like 2015 is going to be a good one as well for fans of the venerable RPG company.

Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide - Tabletop and Board Games Review

2014 has been a good year for fans of Dungeons & Dragons. This fifth edition of the series took a unique approach in releasing its books in staggered fashion over several months - and at long last the final book in the series - the Dungeon Master's Guide - has dropped just before the end of the year. Odds are, if you purchased the first two core books - the Dungeon Master's Guide is a no-brainer choice at this point. However, for those on the fence about whether or not to spring for this collection of gaming books, I can safely say that the Dungeon Master's Guide rounds out a balanced collection of high quality tomes for tabletop gaming enthusiasts and is well worth the look.

Dungeons & Dragons: The Rise of Tiamat - Tabletop and Board Games Review

The newest installment of the recently rebooted Dungeons & Dragons experience has come out, and while we are still waiting on that final Dungeon Master's Guide (releasing next week), we had a chance to take a look at the second half of the Tyranny of Dragons. All in all, The Rise of Tiamat feels like a fitting, challenging follow-up to Hoard of the Shadow Queen.

Magic 2015 - Garruk's Revenge Expansion - PC Review

Have you found yourself thinking “golly, I sure had a hearty helping of Magic the Gathering from this years Magic 2015 release on Steam, but I could sure go for a nice digestif to wash it all down?” Well Stainless Games and Wizards of the Coast saw that longing look in your eye as they casually slide the dessert menu to you. On special tonight, a $5 expansion pack called Garruk’s Revenge. Promising 5 new campaign levels, dozens of new cards, and a new way of unlocking boosters, it is a mighty tempting offer. But does this offering put the cherry on top, or does it feel like a clown throwing a pie in your face?

Magic 2015 - Duels of the Planeswalkers + Garruk's Revenge - Xbox One Review

Magic: The Gathering is one of those hobbies of mine that dates back quite a few years. Most of our nights playing Dungeons & Dragons started (or ended) with some hands of Magic being played among us (when we were not playing rounds of Mario Kart 64 and GoldenEye). I have started and stopped over the years, adding cards and selling some along the way. The fundamental game remains the same, despite some rules clarifications (goodbye Interrupts) and new mechanics (hello Planeswalkers). Magic 2015 - Duels of the Planeswalkers is a mostly faithful recreation of the game that does several things right over prior years, but also stumbles in a few places as well.

Dungeons & Dragons: Hoard of the Shadow Queen - Tabletop and Board Games Review

This 96 page hardcover book stands as a module for delving deeper into the newest edition of Dungeons & Dragons. It is geared for roughly four players and can see them all of the way through level seven starting off as new adventurers. I already had a chance to take a look at the Starter Set, and while these two sets have some things in common, there are a good number of differences as well.

Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual - Tabletop and Board Games Review

For me, nothing screams Dungeons & Dragons more than the Monster Manual. This is my favorite book with pretty much every edition that comes out, and that holds true so far with this fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons as well. There are so many different things that go into a fantasy world, from the different races, magical artifacts, unique lands and the use of spells. However, the monsters (both good and bad) are what make the setting come to life and is both fun to simply peruse but essential for adding flavor to a campaign.

Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook - Tabletop and Board Games Review

Most of the books found in the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game is geared towards the DM. The man behind the curtain/tabletop screen may be akin to the great and powerful Oz, but in truth the players are really the driving force to a good tabletop session. This is a hardcover book with plenty of beautiful illustrations to tease the eye, but at the end of the day it is an essential reference for players looking to get the most out of their tabletop gaming experience.

Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set - Tabletop and Board Games Review

Few brands evoke the images that Dungeons & Dragons has over the years. I have always thought of Dungeons & Dragons as a toolbox. It gives structure to a story, and an opportunity for people to roleplay and add their own personalities or imaginations to the outcome. I first started playing Second Edition back in very late high school and throughout college. The rules were often dense, and there was more than one session that got held up by the interpretation of the rules. Beyond that it was not always approachable for new players. The latest version of Dungeons & Dragons attempts to address those concerns and so far the early returns are incredibly promising.

Magic 2015 - Duels of the Planeswalkers - PC Review

My foray into Magic: The Gathering began in the late 90’s. Spotting the Portal starter set on sale behind the counter at a chain bookstore, I convinced a friend to split the cost with me. This first foray was brief, as my young self didn’t have the income to fuel a collectible card game addiction. In college, I had a set of friends that fell in quite deep, attending Friday night matches and release tournaments, but cost remained prohibitive. It was not until about a year ago where I really took the plunge, buying booster boxes along with my colleagues and our own dear Editor in Chief here. Spending more money than I care to admit, I loved the act of opening a booster, creating a deck, and then tweaking it after seeing how it fared against my colleagues. Though I have been clean of the physical cards for about a year, I have still picked up the various Magic: The Gathering releases on Steam to scratch the occasional itch.

Magic 2014 - Duels of the Planeswalkers - PC & PS3 Review

I think by now it has been pretty well established that I am a huge fan of Magic: The Gathering. I have been playing the physical game since college - just shy of twenty years now. I have seen a lot of the PC versions of the game come about, such as the old RPG-style one from Microprose through various interactions of the Duels of the Planeswalkers series.

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 - PC Review

I am a huge fan of Magic: The Gathering.  I have had several posts about the topic in the past - both with release announcements, reviews for the last two Duels of the Planeswalkers games and the fact that I am (once again) playing the actual card game with friends.

Needless to say, I was excited to get my hands on 2013.
