• NHL 27 - PS5 Review

...and I have been playing NHL games since. It didn't matter whether it was EA or another game like 2K in the 2000s; I loved hockey games and still do, but is NHL 27 a step in the right direction?

  • NBA 2K27 - PlayStation 5 Review

With these annual seasonal renewals of the sports season comes the related video games as well, and the question reviewers such as myself always face is this: Is this year’s game worth purchasing one year after the last one? My answer? Yes, absolutely. NBA fans are going to almost certainly enjoy NBA 2K27.

  • Midnight Moments - PC Steam Review

Midnight Moments is a cozy cyberpunk diorama-building game that is stunning. Unlike games that require you to complete quests or take out assailants or even solve challenging puzzles, this one only requires one thing: imagination.

  • Isle of Reveries - PC Review

Isle of Reveries is a top down 2D action adventure game that made my nostalgia for old school Zelda games flare up really hard. A good blending of puzzle, exploration, and combat, Isle of Reveries is a wonderful title to experience inside and out.

  • Outbound - PC Review

Let me tell you about this cozy game my daughter and I are playing together called Outbound. Now, I've been following this game from the initial Kickstarter back in April 2025 to its full release in May 2026. The best Mother's Day gift for myself and my first ever collector's edition in a physical copy!

  • OVER REQUIEMZ - Nintendo Switch Review

In OVER REQUIEMZ Yuhiru is thrown into the castle of Oz and is immediately accused of trying to assassinate the King and shoved into the dungeon. Not only is she treated like a criminal...

  • Dread Delusion - Xbox Series X|S Review

Today we’re looking at what has rapidly become an absolute favorite in the open-world RPG genre for me. An interesting story, memorable NPCs, stunning visuals, and a setting absolutely dripping with flavor, Dread Delusion sets its tone immediately and sticks with it.

  • HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush - PS5 Review

...Now Milestone, the original developer of the two Hot Wheels Unleashed games, is back, and I was hoping it would be as fun as the last two Hot Wheels games they made...

  • Asdivine Knot - PS5 Review

Asdivine Knot is the latest title in the Kemco JRPG library. Following protagonist Verselio, who's on the run from the church that they once served, he'll be accompanied by an odd selection of party members as they all find a reason to band together…

Order Up! Nightdive Studios Announces PO'ed: Definitive Edition

No fools allowed! Yesterday, Nightdive Studios surprise announced PO'ed: Definitive Edition, an updated version of the classic 1995 adrenaline-pumping first-person space shooter coming soon to PC and consoles.

🤌YES, IT’S REAL. DON'T JUST GET MAD, GET PO'ED! 👊

Inspired by generational powerhouses DOOM and QUAKE, the original PO'ed pushed first-person action games to new heights with its over-the-top, action-packed, fast-paced, explosive, ridiculous, bloody, smelly, scrumptious, adjective-filled, ultra-violent 3D gameplay. You play as a chef who crashes on an alien planet infested with extraterrestrial foes, using a menu of “household” weapons to deliver a dish best served cold (by dish, I mean revenge, just in case you were confused).

Nightdive Studios’ PO’ed: Definitive Edition spices up the classic 1995 shooter with updated visuals, antialiasing, increased framerate, redefined controls, and up to 4K 144 FPS performance.

Your ship has been overrun by aliens. Your comrades-in-arms have been annihilated, and your soufflé has been ruined! What do you do? Grab your jetpack and rocket launcher, and fry those suckers! PO'ed features 16 of the baddest, maddest, and most unattractive monsters in the galaxy. Rock-throwing ogres, plasma-shooting robots, giant bats ... and walking butts!

🍳BON APPÉTIT, *****! 💣

PO’ed: Definitive Edition Key Features:

  • A plate full of quality-of-life features to enhance the gameplay and fix bugs present in the original game (which can be toggled off)
  • Wet your whistle with widescreen support for the HUD and other on-screen graphics
  • A new delicious difficulty mode has been added for hardcore players
  • 15 appetizing achievements
  • A dash of localization support for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish
  • Total freedom! Cruise on foot or fly with your jetpack through 25 wild 3D environments

PO'ed: Definitive Edition release for Windows PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in the very near future. Chefs can wishlist the game on Steam today at https://store.steampowered.com/app/2697470/POed_Definitive_Edition.

Crystal-Powered Adventure Platformer 'Lucid' Releasing on Console and PC in 2024!

NEW YORK — Sept. 6, 2022 —
LUCID, the crystal-hopping adventure platformer by Eric Manahan of The Matte Black Studio, jumps, pulses, and slashes its way onto Steam for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2024.

Published by Apogee Entertainment (Turbo Overkill, Duke Nukem, Prey, Max Payne), LUCID presents a heartfelt adventure in a crystalline fantasy. Venture across a massive overworld, solve challenging puzzle dungeons, and conquer white-knuckle combat to unlock powerful new abilities, revealing more secrets in previously explored areas. Tightly tuned for platforming perfection, LUCID embraces the flow-state fun of genre giants like Celeste while writing a love letter to the 2D golden age of Mega Man X, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid.

Explore Aedyn, an enigmatic land replete with crystals, in the wake of the apocalyptic Great Fall. The Lucid Giant has fallen and only the few remaining Sentinels, practitioners of the Crystal Arts, can stop the corruption soaking the land. Take up the fight as Oenn, a young, stone-skinned Junior Sentinel. Seek the shattered pieces of the Lucid Giant and confront the ancient, celestial entity which threatens Aedyn.

Expand Oenn’s mobility and enhance his combat arsenal with the five Crystal Arts—rewards for braving memorable dungeons like the icy climb of Onyx Ridge or the toxic gloom of Welltown. While Oenn can jump, dash, and pulse on his own, chain the Crystal Arts together to traverse impossible gap distances and unlock devastating combo attacks. Soften enemy armor from afar with the ranged Crystal Pulse before crushing their defenses with an overhead Crystal Axe slam. Fire the Crystal Spear to break open a pathway above or use its “down air” as a pogo to extend Oenn’s jump.

By equipping up to two Crystal Arts at once and fluidly swapping them mid-combo, lay bare the secrets of Aedyn. Solve devious puzzles in the deepest depths, defeat formidable bosses, and explore the overworld, aiding villagers and piecing together Aedyn’s history. Every item on Oenn’s journey possesses a world-building lore description, and translating runic language or defeating enough of one enemy will unfold a bigger narrative tapestry.

“With LUCID, I’m devoted to letting players tell as much of the story as they like, in precisely their own way,” said Eric Manahan, founder of The Matte Black Studio. “From the narrative threads you choose to tug on, to the Crystal Arts and movement tech you embrace the most, LUCID aims to let you write your own legend in a shattered world of platforming bliss.”

“Apogee got its start with some pretty famous platform games in the early ‘90s, like Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Cosmo’s Cosmic Canyon, Bio Menace, and Monster Bash,” said Scott Miller, Apogee's original founder. “It makes total sense for us to get back into platformers and with LUCID, we finally found one that’s innovative, deep with story, and has a super fun lead character with a ton of tricks up his jacket sleeve.”

LUCID will debut in 2024 on all platforms of note. To take your first steps in Aedyn, follow @_theMatteBlack and @Apogee_Ent on Twitter, hang out with Eric on Instagram, subscribe to the Apogee Entertainment and Matte Black Studio Discord servers, and wishlist LUCID on Steam.

About The Matte Black Studio

Based in New York, The Matte Black Studio is headed and created by Eric Manahan, who wears many hats, including that of artist, coder, and designer behind the high-action, crystal punk, dark fantasy game LUCID.

As The Matte Black Studio, Eric aims to fuse his love of the classics with modern sensibilities.

About Apogee Entertainment

The "Apogee Model," as described in the new book, Shareware Heroes (Aug. 2022 release), was the starting point for talented indie developers to bypass retail and sell their games using online distribution in 1990. Apogee founder Scott Miller created this new model and soon funded, mentored, and published many indie upstarts and released a legendary string of global success stories, like Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, Shadow Warrior, Max Payne and Prey, earning over a billion dollars commercially. Miller also created the 3D Realms label for Apogee, which was sold to Embracer Group in 2021.

The new Apogee Entertainment, with founder Scott Miller and longtime partner Terry Nagy at the helm, will empower today’s incredibly talented indie developers, paving the way for their global success with innovative ideas, cutting-edge marketing, and the same fearlessness that changed the industry.

Explore the Firehouse, a familiar home base filled with new and recognizable characters alike, before departing on a mission with any combo of friends, random matchmaking, and/or AI bots online or offline in solo mode. Personalize your Ghostbuster’s equipment at the workbench and test out the changes with some target practice in the neighboring alley. Visit Ray’s Occult Books to enter the spectral realm and customize the Ghost’s loadout, skin, and various otherworldly options.
