Sinking City 2 PC Specs and Prices Revealed Ahead of August 18th Launch!

10 July 2026, Kyiv, Ukraine | Today, Frogwares has opened pre-orders for The Sinking City 2, its upcoming Lovecraftian survival horror game, which is launching on August 18, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

A new trailer featuring brand-new gameplay has been released alongside a look at much of the bonus in-game content available to players who pre-order the game.

PRICE REVEAL | UNDER THE GENRE'S GOING RATE

Frogwares has also announced the game's pricing, with the Standard Edition set at USD $49.99 / EUR €49.99 / GBP £41.35.
Seeing pre-orders go live is quite a surreal milestone for us. It means the game is basically at the finish line, and that's not something we were always sure would happen. The Sinking City 2 is the most ambitious game we've ever made, built under circumstances most studios never have to plan for by a team working remotely across Ukraine and beyond. Even now, with around two months till launch to go, we made the call to move the entire project over to Unreal Engine 5.8 because we believed the performance gains were worth the effort for our players.

Our pricing follows the same philosophy. While most survival horror games today launch at $60 or more, we're launching at $49.99 because we want to be fair and give as many people as possible the chance to step into Arkham with us.  - Sergiy Oganesyan, Publishing Director, Frogwares.

  • Standard Edition - Base game, Chthonic Arsenal pack - $49.99

  • Premium Edition - Base game, Chthonic Arsenal pack, The Arkham Field Kit, Holloway Manor, and 24-hour advanced access - $59.99

The Chthonic Arsenal

Mythical weapons to give you options when the abyss fights back. Face Arkham in style. Wield the Chthonic Arsenal: the “Shale Mary” handgun, the “Breakwater” shotgun, and the “Tektite Tommy” SMG, each with its own look and features.

The Arkham Field Kit

Face Arkham prepared. The Arkham Field Kit adds three outfits for the main character: “The Anatomist,” “The Witness,” and “Heretic Heraldry.” It also includes three Dream Essence to learn your first Talent early and a Resource Pack with a helpful mix of ammo, healing, and crafting items to aid your first steps in the city.

The Holloway Manor

On the cliffs outside the city of Arkham, the Holloway Manor keeps its lights low. The house belongs to an old family whose history curdled into occult practice–the kind that Lovecraft would trace through buried lineages and rites that never quite ended. Rooms interlock like a puzzle box, dusty heirlooms open doors, and the house rewards your curiosity with paths you were not meant to find. See the job through, and the “Bucking Bronco” revolver you claim stays with you in the main game.

The Sinking City 2 Launching on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in August!

Saturday, 6 June 2026, Kyiv, Ukraine | Today, Frogwares is proud to announce that its upcoming survival horror game, The Sinking City 2, will launch on August 18, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The announcement was made during Summer Game Fest, accompanied by a brand-new trailer titled “Welcome to Arkham,” which premiered as part of the Future Games Show Summer Showcase.

Steam Demo Release

As an additional surprise for players, the team has shadow-dropped a one-hour playable demo on Steam. The demo covers the opening hour of the full game and offers an early look at Frogwares’ take on survival horror. It also provides the first opportunity to properly meet the new protagonist, occult adventurer Calvin Rafferty, and begin uncovering the reasons behind his tragic and arduous journey into the flooded and Eldritch monster-infested city of Arkham.

A Relief To Finally Glimpse the Finish Line

The Sinking City 2 has been in development at Frogwares since January 2023, with the majority of our 90+ person team based in Ukraine. The constant hurdles and hardships caused by russia’s invasion brought constant uncertainty and shifting timelines throughout production. The announcement of a release date marks a significant milestone, allowing the team to finally be able to see the game in full and assess the remaining work needed to bring the game to completion and prepare it for launch as a self-published title.
Making games is already chaotic and unpredictable, so having a war going on at the same time adds a layer of immense chaos. We were forced to constantly adapt and change our plans. So many times we had to rethink and adjust how we were going to get things done. And often just as we’d finally adapted and got into the new flow of things, something else would be waiting around the corner to throw us into disarray. Rinse and repeat.

We went through entire winters where heat and power were regularly cut off throughout the day because our infrastructure was being intentionally targeted. We had days where someone would be part of the team, and then the next day we’d hear they had been called up to serve and needed to start handing over their work to the rest of us. You’d be in a meeting one minute discussing some trivial design question, and the next, half of us would be saying, “Hold on, the air raid sirens just went off.” We’ve had people disappear for days because, overnight, their home or apartment building was hit directly or indirectly, damaging their homes.

Even during the week we finally picked a release date internally as a team, our feelings of joy and relief were quickly dampened when, that very Sunday, cities across the country came under some of the worst attacks since the start of the war. It felt like some vindictive force reminding us not to celebrate too much because everything could still change in an instant.

But despite all this, we’re keeping our heads up. We’re beyond proud and in awe of how we’ve come together through all of this, and we’re happy to have finally brought the game to a point where we can see its release on the horizon.

Continuing to Push the Studio in a New Direction

With The Sinking City 2, Frogwares is fully embracing its original vision to steer the studio toward a “horror-first” approach, designing gameplay that emphasizes combat, exploration, and the rich Lovecraftian setting.

Our idea to take a chance with The Sinking City 2 and create something more in the survival horror genre has really come together. The leaps and progress we’ve made are clear to all of us on the team, and now we’re eager to see how it resonates with players, both new and our existing fans.

While the genre shift has allowed us to really grow creatively, we’re holding onto the investigative roots we’re known for. We’ve prioritized combat, survival, and exploration, with investigation as a beneficial layer for those who want that aspect of the game.

And of course, we’ve made sure to wrap everything in a memorable, mature narrative, which our fans know and love us for. This time around, the story is more personal to our protagonist, while still delivering our signature Frogwares take on gray morality and Lovecraftian themes.

Survival Horror Fans Patiently Await The Sinking City 2 Release Until First Half of 2026

21 October 2025 | Kyiv, Ukraine | Today, Frogwares announced that The Sinking City 2, their upcoming Lovecraftian survival horror game, will be shifting its release window to the first half of 2026.

While no official release date had been set previously, the team had initially been aiming for a potential surprise 2025 launch and had even been hinting at that to fans.

However, they’ve now decided it’s best to clearly communicate that they need to take more time to finish the game on their own terms. The main reasons for this decision are the ongoing war in Ukraine and the significant genre shift the studio is undertaking with The Sinking City 2 compared to their previous titles.
"Developing a game during a war isn’t something you can ever really prepare for, but something you need to keep adapting to. At one point, we were losing power for days as drones and missiles hit our power grid. When that tactic stopped working, it became mass drone swarms every other night, going from midnight until dawn. You work all day, then spend the sleepless night listening for explosions, and somehow still need to function the next morning… These things all slowed us down regularly to the point where it just doesn’t make sense to try to rush what we have left to meet a date that we no longer feel is worth chasing. How moscow’s tactics to terrorize civilians will change again as winter comes is anyone's guess, so we’d rather be ready to adapt again, knowing we’re able to take our time. ” - Sergiy Oganesyan, Head of Publishing, Frogwares

The studio also noted that developing a fully fledged survival horror game for the first time brings its own set of new learning curves.
“Switching to survival horror for the first time has been a whole new kind of challenge for us in itself, too. We’ve been making investigation adventures for more than twenty years, but survival horror asks for a completely different kind of design thinking. Tension, pacing, combat, etc. We’ve always loved the genre as fans, but once you start building it yourself, you realize how much you still have to do. It’s exciting, but it definitely makes development slower.” Alexander Gresko, Lead Game Designer, Frogwares

The move to a 2026 release window does not come with an exact date, as the team acknowledges that circumstances can change at any moment.
”We don’t have an exact date set for 2026 yet, but we thought it was better to at least share what we do know. We’d rather be certain than announce something now only to move it again. Rest assured, we’re currently aiming for the first half of 2026, so it’s a matter of months, not years.”  - Sergiy Oganesyan, Head of Publishing, Frogwares

The team has also said they will be sharing a lot more from the game as it enters the final stages of production, with today’s news coming with 13 new screenshots showcasing the game’s setting, enemies, and signature Lovecraftian atmosphere.
“Alongside the 13 new screenshots shared today, we’ll also be showing a lot more gameplay over the next few months to let everyone see how development is going. The Sinking City 2 is the first time we’ve done big, private beta tests with our community so early in the development process, and their feedback has been instrumental in shaping the game. Because of this, we’ve actually been a lot less stressed about showing stuff publicly to try to gauge reception. But we're keen to now start showing more people what we’ve been working away on all this time.” - Anna Bieniek, Senior Social Media Manager, Frogwares

With War Still Raging, Frogwares Turns to Community via Kickstarter

Ukraine is still in a state of war that impacts the lives of everyone in the country.  Frogwares has therefore opted to use Kickstarter once again to create a safety net for the studio, to help secure some additional features for the game, and to get more direct access to its most diehard fans.

After 3 years of this horrid war hanging over our daily lives, we've learned to adapt, though it has never been easy. In 2023 when we released Sherlock Holmes The Awakened with the help of Kickstarter and our loving fans, we built ourselves a safety net that saved us more than once. From power outages and the need for team members to relocate on short notice, to having to pause development for days, this safety net was crucial. Given that The Sinking City 2 is a far more complex and demanding game, we’ve decided to take the same route as before.”  - Wael Amr, CEO, Frogwares

The Kickstarter campaign has a target of 100,000 EUR / 105,000 USD and offers a selection of rewards to fans, with the focal point being 2 physical Collector's Editions that will be made available only to Kickstarter backers.

Alongside the campaign, the team has also released a 5+ min deep dive dev diary showcasing the current state of development, additional in-game footage and more.

Still Pushing The Studio in a New Direction

With the Sinking City 2, Frogwares is going full steam ahead with its original pledge to pivot the studio to a “horror-first” focus with gameplay primarily built around combat, exploration, and its Lovecraftian setting.

When we announced The Sinking City 2 back in 2024, we stated this is going to be our chance to shift our studio into creating games that are more “horror first” focused and the results we’re all seeing internally are extremely promising. We’re not ditching our investigation roots entirely but the chance to spread and challenge our norms has really helped the team grow.  We’ve placed combat and exploration first while still keeping an air of investigation that adds depth but is entirely optional” - Sergiy Oganesyan, Publishing Director, Frogwares

Reinventing The Studio - New Genre and Unreal Engine 5

With the Sinking City 2, Frogwares hopes to pivot the studio to a “horror-first” focus with gameplay primarily built around combat, exploration, and its Lovecraftian setting + story. The team has also finally been able to move over to Unreal Engine 5 to utilize the technological leaps and bounds the engine is offering developers.
“The original Sinking City is still one of our most successful titles, most likely because of stronger horror genre leanings and setting. We created quite a few detective adventures in the past, so now we’re going to mix things up to keep doing what people love about us - meaning story-rich experiences - while still being able to evolve. It’s exciting but at the same time risky. We’re a totally independent studio that for the past 24 years has become known for detective games. But we need to start taking bolder moves. The industry is changing around us and we want to secure the studio’s future.” - Sergiy Oganesyan, Publishing Director, Frogwares

Be a Detective Only If You So Choose

On top of strong storytelling, The Sinking City 2 will have Frogwares’ other hallmark feature - the ability to be a cunning detective. However, this time around the feature will be entirely optional. Players can decide when and where to put on their sleuthing caps to unveil new secrets, lore, ways to progress etc...
“We want investigation to be a beneficial part of the game but just for those who want it, offering tangible gameplay bonuses and eureka moments without it being a requirement to progress. By taking time to piece together clues, you’ll arm yourself with more knowledge and awareness of your options vs just coming across them by chance. We are also doing this for our existing fans who have come to love this feature from us, so they don’t feel left out. For those not keen on combat and survival-horror mechanics, we will also have various accessibility features to help.”  - Denys Chebotarov, Executive Producer, Frogwares

As War Still Rages, Frogwares Turns to Community

As Ukraine is still in a state of war, Frogwares has decided to turn to Kickstarter again to create a safety net for the studio as well as help secure some additional features for the game.
“At this stage, we have learned and adapted to our reality but the ongoing war adds an ominous layer of uncertainty, and the additional funds will help us deal with potential disruptions on top of helping fund various extra features we would love to implement. Our previous game, Sherlock Holmes The Awakened, was fully developed and released during the war. Through Kickstarter and our supporters, we built ourselves a safety net that saved us more than once. From power cuts as our electrical infrastructure was targeted for months to the need for team members to relocate at very short notice, this financial safety net proved invaluable to us. So we need to do the same now with The Sinking City 2 as this game is vastly bigger and more complex.“ - Wael Amr, CEO, Frogwares

The campaign is expected to launch soon, but for now, fans can sign up to be informed by Kickstarter once the campaign goes live:
