• NHL 27 - PS5 Review

...and I have been playing NHL games since. It didn't matter whether it was EA or another game like 2K in the 2000s; I loved hockey games and still do, but is NHL 27 a step in the right direction?

  • NBA 2K27 - PlayStation 5 Review

With these annual seasonal renewals of the sports season comes the related video games as well, and the question reviewers such as myself always face is this: Is this year’s game worth purchasing one year after the last one? My answer? Yes, absolutely. NBA fans are going to almost certainly enjoy NBA 2K27.

  • Midnight Moments - PC Steam Review

Midnight Moments is a cozy cyberpunk diorama-building game that is stunning. Unlike games that require you to complete quests or take out assailants or even solve challenging puzzles, this one only requires one thing: imagination.

  • Isle of Reveries - PC Review

Isle of Reveries is a top down 2D action adventure game that made my nostalgia for old school Zelda games flare up really hard. A good blending of puzzle, exploration, and combat, Isle of Reveries is a wonderful title to experience inside and out.

  • Outbound - PC Review

Let me tell you about this cozy game my daughter and I are playing together called Outbound. Now, I've been following this game from the initial Kickstarter back in April 2025 to its full release in May 2026. The best Mother's Day gift for myself and my first ever collector's edition in a physical copy!

  • OVER REQUIEMZ - Nintendo Switch Review

In OVER REQUIEMZ Yuhiru is thrown into the castle of Oz and is immediately accused of trying to assassinate the King and shoved into the dungeon. Not only is she treated like a criminal...

  • Dread Delusion - Xbox Series X|S Review

Today we’re looking at what has rapidly become an absolute favorite in the open-world RPG genre for me. An interesting story, memorable NPCs, stunning visuals, and a setting absolutely dripping with flavor, Dread Delusion sets its tone immediately and sticks with it.

  • HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush - PS5 Review

...Now Milestone, the original developer of the two Hot Wheels Unleashed games, is back, and I was hoping it would be as fun as the last two Hot Wheels games they made...

  • Asdivine Knot - PS5 Review

Asdivine Knot is the latest title in the Kemco JRPG library. Following protagonist Verselio, who's on the run from the church that they once served, he'll be accompanied by an odd selection of party members as they all find a reason to band together…

  • STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT - PC Review

Our story begins in Akihabra, Tokyo Japan. The protagonist Okarin… Or rather Rintaro Okabe, (Voiced by Mamoru Minyano) is a recent high school graduate who rents an apartment with his best friend and resident computer hacker, Itaru ‘Daru’ Hashida (Voiced by Tomokazu Seki) during the summer of 2010.

Devolver Digital Announces Serious Sam: Shatterverse

This Co-operative FPS from Dead By Daylight Creator Behaviour Interactive – Sams from Across the Multiverse Join Forces this Year on PC and Consoles

Austin, TX (March 26, 2026) - Dimension-hopping developer Behaviour Interactive (Dead By Daylight) and rocket-jumping publisher Devolver Digital (BALL x PIT, Baby Steps) have joined forces to unveil Serious Sam: Shatterverse via today's Xbox Partner Preview showcase. This multiversal multiplayer FPS is based on the adventures of boomer shooter legend Sam ‘Serious’ Stone – whose over-the-top run-and-gun classic, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, celebrates its 25th birthday this year – but with an oh-so-modern roguelite twist. (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2067210/Serious_Sam_Shatterverse)

Trailer: https://youtu.be/jHl-GhG5szc

Serious Sam: Shatterverse is a co-op FPS where five players can team up, blast through shifting universes, stack wild boons, bend the rules with run modifiers and hunt the deadliest forces of Sam’s relentless arch-nemesis, the villainous Mental.

Mental’s maniacal machinations have fractured the walls between universes, and now Sams from multiple dimensions must learn to work together to repair the Shatterverse. You’ll travel across shifting universes to finish battles other Sams couldn’t, fighting alongside alternate versions of yourself to defeat the big bad’s five nefarious lieutenants.

While this game is developed by Behaviour Interactive, newcomers to the Serious Sam universe, the developer has the full blessing of series creators Croteam:

“Seeing Shatterverse come to life is a really big moment for us,” says Croteam’s Davor Hunski, co-creator of Serious Sam. “It's very exciting to see another talented team step in and create something bold, fresh and different within the universe we cherished for so long. I can't wait for both the old and new fans to experience this new interpretation of the series!”
“Our main goal was to respect Serious Sam's rich legacy while presenting it in a fresh, contemporary way unlike anything seen before in the series,” says Behaviour Interactive’s Nic Duchesne. “Working with Devolver has been an incredible, enriching experience for our team. The folks there are real renegades of the video game publishing world: they always put the game first and aren’t afraid to carve their own path.”

FEATURES

  •     Wield a big, loud, stupid and frankly irresponsible arsenal of weapons, mixing classic Serious Sam guns and all-new toys plucked from the Shatterverse
  •     High adrenaline run-and-gun FPS combat with big battlefields, non-stop pressure, a lot of backpedaling and perfectly timed one-liners when everything’s on fire
  •     Leans into Serious Sam’s legacy and pushes it forward with procedurally shifted runs across hand-crafted arenas set in previously unexplored worlds
  •     Navigate unstable anomalies, hidden portals and high-risk opportunities that can supercharge a run – or end it instantly
  •     Push forward for greater rewards, unlock powerful modifiers and take advantage of upgrades that permanently expand your possibilities
  •     Face off against massive hordes of enemies including classic Serious Sam foes and fresh monsters under Mental’s control, all begging to be gibbed

All this and more awaits you in Serious Sam: Shatterverse, launching on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S this year.

Check out serioussam.com for more information. See you in the Shatterverse.

Happy Belated Canada Day!!!

We at Chalgyr Games Room hope that your Canada Day celebrations were as awesome as our Canadian reviewers and news editor's were. So much so, that we were late in posting our Happy Canada Day wishes!

With that in mind, we thought we'd do something different this year. Below is a small collection of some great Canadian Video Games and Studios to check out. Starting with a couple of indie companies, we went looking for titles that might interest our audience. Of course, this is not a complete list, but it has awesome games to play if you haven't dipped your toes into the great white north!

Indie Studios

- Max Inferno studios is based out of Nova Scotia, Canada. It is comprised of two people Annie Macmillan and Lukas Steinman who wanted to make unique games from GMTKJam 2020. While they only have one title to their name, A Little to the Left, I'm sure we'll see more interesting and creative works moving forwards. https://www.maxinferno.com

- One of our favourite game studios is called Capybara Games. An award winning studio based in Toronto, Canada, they are known for some unique titles that can be played on a variety of platforms like PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo. Some of these titles include Battle Vision Network, Grindstone, Don't Starve: Shipwrecked, and Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes!

- Based in Toronto Ontario is Massive Damage Games who has a motto of "Indie Spirit with Big Vision." The team consists of indie all stars and AAA veterans alike to build innovative games. Currently, the team has three titles beginning with an upcoming RPG titled Fera: The Sundered Tribes. If you're looking for a different style of RPG, look no further than a tactical roguelite one called Star Renegades, or perhaps a strategy RPG with base building elements is more your speed. If so, check out Halcyon6. All three titles are available on Steam!

- This list wouldn't be complete without Phoenix Labs, who has studios in both Vancouver, British Columbia and Montreal, Quebec. This company may be a familiar name because it has a couple of titles that we personally have played. Those titles are Faefarm and Dauntless! While Faefarm is a cozy farming sim that can be played solo or cooperatively (up to four players), Dauntless is a monster hunter style of game that is completely free to play.

Larger Studios

- BeHaviour Interactive was founded in 1992 and has become one of Canada's largest independent game developer/publisher. Their studios are located in a variety of locations but the ones in Canada are in Montreal, Quebec and Toronto, Ontario. You may know them because of their hit game Dead by Daylight which has more than 60 million players across all platforms. Take a look at their website here to see what else they have to play.

- Vancouver, British Columbia has another large studio that goes by the name of Klei Entertainment. Sound familiar? It should! They are the developers responsible for titles like Don't Starve, Griftlands, and Oxygen Not Included. These hit games are well received in the indie gaming scene. I, for one, love Oxygen Not Included even if I'm terrible at it. Check them out on Steam since Klei is having an epic Publisher Sale RIGHT NOW!

- The final studio on this short list of Canadian Developers is none other than Digital Extremes based out of London, Ontario. You may know them because they are the ones responsible for the hit free to play looter shooter Warframe. It is a game that persisted over many years and it keeps improving as time continues. I'm personally a Volt Prime main, but there are lots of other frames to try and places to explore. Don't miss out on all the epic content. Besides, you can't lose given that the game is free to play! Check out Warframe on Steam today.

Will You Survive in a Medieval Survival Game?

MONTREAL – April 30, 2024 – Haenir Studio and Behaviour Interactive are excited to announce their official partnership to bring Blight: Survival™ to life. First revealed in 2022, the much buzzed-about medieval action-horror co-op survival game pits up to four players against monsters and men in a visceral fight to destroy the source of the Blight, a deadly affliction that plagues the land.

“Teaming up with Behaviour Interactive signals the next major phase of development for Blight: Survival,” said Haenir Studio Co-Founder, Mads Christensen. “With Blight: Survival, we set out to deliver an ambitious and unique experience for players. Being able to utilize Behaviour’s resources, expertise, and horror pedigree will be instrumental in bringing our vision to life. We’re thrilled to kick off this journey together.”

Blight: Survival takes place in the no man’s land between two desperate kingdoms locked in a ceaseless war. Within this realm of death and decay, a new strain of Blight has erupted from the remains of the fallen. Fed and strengthened by the blood that’s been spilled, it rapidly spreads – turning man into monster.

“As a game we were already looking forward to playing ourselves, we couldn’t be happier about this collaboration,” shared Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President at Behaviour Interactive. “Working with talented studios like Haenir Studio in this type of partnership will be a focus for us as we look to publish more and more external games in the coming years. This is the start of something new and exciting for Behaviour, and we’ll be keeping our eyes open for interesting opportunities.”

While Blight: Survival does not currently have a release date, Haenir Studio and Behaviour Interactive are eager to share more details about the game and its ongoing development in the future.

In the meantime, players interested in learning more or being first in line for all the latest Blight: Survival news can join the official Discord and wishlist the game on Steam.

Warhammer 40,000 : Eternal Crusade - PC Preview

The Warhammer and Warhammer 40k properties have seen a deluge of release the past few years; in fact, there have been 18 releases under the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k franchises since 2013. Eighteen releases... Of those 18 releases, there have been a few decent games, namely Total War: Warhammer, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, Space Hulk, and Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide. Outside of those few, the rest have been utter and complete crap. Being the Warhammer 40k fan that I am, I continually look on the bright side and hope against hope that some some developer will tackle the franchise for the Imperium and really knock one out of the park.
