2K and Firaxis Games debuted today the in-game opening cinematic to Sid Meier's Civilization VII at The Game Awards 2024. During the show, in-person attendees were treated to an epic live orchestral performance accompanying the cinematic, featuring music specially composed by GRAMMY® award-winning composer Christopher Tin.

Voiced-over by Civilization VII-narrator Gwendoline Christie ("Game of Thrones," "Star Wars" franchise), the opening cinematic takes viewers on a journey through the Ages. As a lone farmer uncovers a buried and rusted saber, we see its history unfold. The saber passes from one generation to the next, across different cultures and regions of the world, illuminating a central theme of the game - that history is built in layers. In addition to the opening cinematic, the main theme for Civilization VII, "Live Gloriously," was also revealed. Composer Christopher Tin shares: "With 'Live Gloriously,' I wanted to capture universal themes of hope, heroism and mortality that have resonated across history. You'll hear words from The Iliad, Beowulf, Popol Vuh and Ramayana, delivering a beautiful sense of gravity and emotion that embodies the story of humanity."

NBA 2K24 Introduces New Updates to MyNBA and The W for PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S

2K today unveiled the details and changes coming to MyNBA* and The W* in NBA 2K24 for PlayStation® 5 (PS5™) and Xbox Series X|S. MyNBA welcomes fans to the new LeBron MyNBA Era and introduces a streamlined option to get in the game faster with MyNBA Lite. In addition, new updates in The W allow players even more control as they pick their path to WNBA greatness.

MyNBA Welcomes a New Era

Last year, MyNBA debuted Eras, allowing players to experience some of the most iconic eras in basketball history. This year, players can rewrite history and step onto the court in the LeBron Era, where they can play through the 2010s and join forces with the all-time leading scorer in NBA history, LeBron James.

“We’re excited for fans of MyNBA to play the all-new experiences this game has to offer this year,” said Erick Boenisch, VP of NBA Development at 2K and Visual Concepts. “MyNBA Eras continues to put players in control of the NBA’s future and past, now including a vital part of NBA history with the LeBron Era. • The LeBron Era: Players can relive or rewrite the 2010s basketball era that saw LeBron James join forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to create the ‘Heatles’ superteam. As fans progress from the 2010s into the Modern Era, select players will undergo an automatic aging transformation, a new feature that is present in all of the historic Eras.
• 2023 Collective Bargaining Agreement: To account for the new CBA that the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association agreed on this past year, NBA 2K24 is implementing new features like a luxury tax brackets scale with the salary cap, cap smoothing, increased value from the Mid-Level Exceptions (MLEs) and more.

MyLEAGUE returns in NBA 2K24 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Players can make executive decisions as a General Manager and lead their franchise to championship glory or elevate the league’s status as the Commissioner of the NBA.

Pursue Greatness in The W

The W also comes back in NBA 2K24 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This year, The W introduces new ways for players to control how their WNBA unfolds, compete in casual 3v3 street games, chase new prizes and more.

• The W Rewards: New rewards and content will be available in The W and The W Online, earned by winning games and completing challenges to unlock updated 2K Breakthrough Skins, MyTEAM Jersey Cards, and player-enhancing MyTEAM Shoe Cards and more exciting rewards.

PGA Tour 2K23 Tiger Woods Edition Available October 11th!

New York, NY – August 22, 2022 – Today, 2K set a tee time for PGA TOUR® 2K23, the forthcoming entry in the golf simulation video game franchise from HB Studios. PGA TOUR 2K23 Deluxe Edition and PGA TOUR 2K23 Tiger Woods Edition are scheduled for worldwide release on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, followed by PGA TOUR 2K23 Standard Edition on Friday, October 14, 2022. Featuring PGA TOUR icon and all-time sports great Tiger Woods as the cover athlete, PGA TOUR 2K23 celebrates Woods’ legacy by introducing him as both a playable in-game pro and an Executive Director advising the game development team.

XCOM 2 - Mac Review

XCOM 2 is the sequel to Firaxis and 2K's 2012 blockbuster squad-based global strategy game, XCOM: Enemy Within. XCOM 2 places you in command of a rebel organization of both rookie soldiers and some returning faces and takes place many years after its predecessor. Following a similar concept as the majority of the previous XCOM titles, XCOM 2 features perma-death for the (many) unfortunate squad members that you will lose along the way, as you work to stop the "Avatar Project" from essentially erasing humanity from existence. With XCOM 2 being one of the most anticipated titles of the year, I was thrilled to get my mittens on a copy and here are my thoughts.

Evolve - PS4 Review

Evolve feels like one of the trickier games I have tried to review to date. The core game is a lot of fun, but more content would have been big. Of course, more content can be had - for a price. The DLC strategy has a lot of gamers upset, which I can relate to as I personally am not a fan of most DLC on the whole. That being said, the content that is provided is well-balanced and a lot of fun, but I cannot help but feel that for a game with so much polish, that it was handled rather clumsily upon release. In the end, it leaves Evolve feeling like a fun enough game that missed too many opportunities for its own good.
