Tuesday, 9th June 2026, Cambridge, UK | Jagex: The RuneScape Company, announced during today’s Nintendo Direct showcase that their survival-crafting co-op game, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, will launch on Nintendo SwitchTM  2 on 15th September, 2026.

The game, which has sold over a million copies during its current Steam Early Access period, welcomes Nintendo players into the world of RuneScape for the very first time.  Alone or in teams of up to four, players will explore the untamed, and fractured land marred by wild magic and terrifying dragons, build shelters, craft weapons, and carve their way through epic questlines and unforgettable encounters.

“RuneScape: Dragonwilds was built around player freedom allowing them to explore, grind skills, craft, and create unforgettable adventures together,” said Jesse America, Executive Producer of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. “Nintendo Switch 2 gives players a whole new way to experience the continent of Ashenfall, whether they’re jumping into co-op sessions with friends or continuing their journey on the move. We’re excited to bring the full Dragonwilds experience to Nintendo players this September.”

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open-world crafting and survival game that sends solo players or teams of up-to-four across Ashenfall, a previously unexplored continent in Gielinor, to uncover the source of a wild, transformative magic spreading across the fractured land. Harnessing the anima-rich landscape, players can wield powerful spells in combat and use magic to gather resources, craft gear and shelters, and aid their journey. Facing fierce dragons at every turn, players must level up skills, brew potions, and forge equipment as they battle their way toward the Dragon Queen herself.

Key Features:

  • RuneScape at its core!: Embark on quests, level skills while exploring a beautiful, hand-crafted world. This all-new adventure blends high-fantasy and iconic RuneScape lore on an undiscovered continent. Battle legendary RuneScape creatures like Zogres, challenge Black Knights and the entirely new and fearsome Garou, all set to a sweeping soundtrack of reorchestrated RuneScape classics and hours of brand-new music.
  • Grind Skills, Slay Dragons: Locate them, throw down the gauntlet, and carve a path to the Dragon Queen herself. Follow the trail of destruction and uncover the mysteries of the continent to learn not just how to confront the dragons, but how to overcome them.
  • Survival Through Sorcery: Summon a spectral axe to fell trees in an instant! Blink away from danger in a cloud of magic. Turn bones into... peaches? The Anima-rich landscape of Ashenfall offers a power unlike any other. Conjure a tornado of fish from a lake! Explode ore veins with a snap of your fingers! Journey through the vibrant regions of Ashenfall, discover why wild magic spills from the fractured lands and harness that power to survive!
  • Community Driven, Player Centric: Like all RuneScape games, community is at the heart of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Whether players are adventuring with friends or going it alone, every opinion matters, and it's up to the community to help shape the future of our game.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is currently available on Steam Early Access, and will launch its 1.0 version for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on 15th September, 2026, alongside its release on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 (and on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers for subscribers), and Xbox Series consoles.

Iron Gate and Coffee Stain Publishing Announce Valheim 1.0 on Sept 9th

SKÖVDE, Sweden – June 7th, 2026 | Developer Iron Gate and publisher Coffee Stain Publishing are excited to announce that their acclaimed Viking survival game Valheim will be releasing into 1.0 on September 9th on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series XIS, Nintendo Switch 2, Linux, and Mac. Announced during the PC Gaming Show earlier today, Valheim will conclude its Early Access journey with its biggest update yet: the arrival of Deep North, a frigid land encased in ice and mystery.

Deep North: Glacial Peaks & Frozen Tundras

Deep North is Valheim’s final biome wrought with ancient evils and lurking threats. What at first seems like a picturesque postcard is bound to quickly turn into a struggle to survive as the land awakens to banish any invaders trying to set foot on its icy shores.

When players first arrive in the Deep North, they are likely to be greeted by an impenetrable snowstorm that, once it clears out, reveals snowy mesas and fields frozen in eternal stillness. As they carefully begin to explore, they will discover vast but abandoned villages, quickly realising that they aren’t the first vikings to set foot here.

The northernmost biome is home to some of the most ancient threats players will find in the game. When the trolls of Valheim grow too old, they migrate to the Deep North to become one with the land and transform into Gammeltrolls, primordial giants that serve as the guardians of the north.

While the surface might seem desolate, the underground of the Deep North teems with life. Vikings who have previously set foot here have been attacked and defeated by the malicious Elakingar, who dig tunnels deep into the ground. Adventurers should tread carefully however, for these sinister devils are at times accompanied by something far more terrifying.

Across Realms and Platforms

With the official release of Valheim into 1.0, the game will be coming out on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 as well, on top of already being available on PC, Linux, Mac, Xbox One and Xbox Series XIS. Valheim will feature full crossplay between platforms, allowing players from all corners of the world to experience the tenth norse realm however and with whomever they’d like.

“When we set out on this journey back in 2021, we could hardly imagine the amount of players that would dive in, and the size of the community that would form around the game.” says Robin Eyre, Creative Director at Iron Gate. “Approaching 1.0 feels equal parts exciting and anxious as we’ve worked hard to make Deep North a worthy conclusion to the Valheim journey!”

Valheim is set to release globally into 1.0 on September 9th 2026. You can find the Deep North press kit here, and you can follow Valheim on Bluesky, Instagram and Discord for more information and updates

Nightdive Studios Announces Thief: The Dark Project Remastered for Winter Release!

Vancouver, WA (June 7, 2026) | Nightdive Studios, Eidos-Montréal and Atari today announced Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, a modern revival of the groundbreaking 1998 classic from Looking Glass Studios that helped define the stealth genre. Remastered with Nightdive’s KEX Engine, the release includes Thief: The Dark Project and the additional missions, content and updates from the 1999 Thief Gold re-release. Coming this Winter, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Play Anywhere, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, in addition to PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Considered an early foundation of “pure stealth” gameplay, Thief stood out in an era dominated by combat-heavy first-person games. Instead of open confrontation, it rewards a slower, more deliberate approach – using light and sound to stay hidden or misdirect enemies, and when required, ferocious moments of violence that stay hidden in the shadows. Described by its developers as a “first-person sneaker,” the title is widely regarded as the pioneering 3D stealth experience or “immersive sim.”
“Thief didn’t just introduce stealth mechanics, it defined them,” said Stephen Kick, CEO at Nightdive Studios. “With this remaster, we’ve preserved the tension and intelligence of the original while enhancing it for modern players, ensuring that its legacy continues to influence how stealth games are played today."
Thief notably emphasizes player agency over scripted scenarios, giving players the freedom to navigate the world and tackle challenges in their own way, using the tools available to them to stay hidden. The NPCs in Thief are also responsive to the environment: instead of following routines, they interact with visual and auditory cues, react and investigate, and communicate with each other.
“Few games have had an impact as enduring as Thief,” said Patrice Baig, General Manager at Eidos-Montréal. “It set a standard for immersion and atmospheric storytelling that still resonates today. This remaster ensures a new generation can experience what made it so influential, and we’re proud to see it treated with such care.”
In Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, players once again step into the boots of Garrett, an orphan rescued from the streets by the Keepers – a secretive, ancient order dedicated to maintaining balance in the world – and trained to become a Master Thief. Now an adult, the rebellious Garrett has left the order and now moves through a world of corruption and conspiracy, stealing from the wealthy for personal gain. Despite his cynical outlook and dark wit, as he uncovers hidden agendas among those grasping for power his instinct is to act for the greater good.

Innovative gameplay features include:

  • Advanced NPC AI: A dynamic visibility system and sound simulation allows both players and enemies to detect movement realistically; NPCs will dynamically adapt to sounds the player makes,  investigate, and even raising alarms
  • Keep to the Shadows: Experience one of the first games to use light and sound as core gameplay mechanics; use fire arrows to extinguish torches and moss arrows to dampen loud surfaces
  • Stealth-Based Combat: Strike unseen from the shadows using Garrett’s blackjack to incapacitate enemies from behind or specialized gas mines and arrows to take them down from range
  • Misdirection: Flashbombs will temporarily blind and disorient enemies and Noisemaker arrows will distract and draw away guards.
  • Tools of a Master Thief: amass a full array of specialized tools including lockpicks, remote cameras, and even rope arrows to access out-of-reach locations

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered modernizes the original experience with material quality of life enhancements. As part of the remastering effort the artists at Nightdive have carefully updated and improved the graphic textures and models, as well as the cut scenes and animations. The team also updated the UI, adding a weapon and item wheel, and mission selector. Support was also added on PC for custom campaigns so that players can experience the many missions and campaigns created over the years by fans.

From its use of light and shadow to its emphasis on player vulnerability and non-lethal playstyles, Thief: The Dark Project helped shape decades of stealth-focused design. Its influence can be seen across the genre, inspiring immersive, system-driven gameplay. The game was recognized at the 3rd Annual Interactive Achievement Awards (2000) with a win for “Outstanding Achievement in Character or Story Development.” With Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, players can revisit – or experience for the first time – the title that made stealth not just a mechanic, but a philosophy.

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will launch this Winter on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Play Anywhere, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, in addition to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch owners can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for free.

Frantic Platform Brawler from Efecto Studios Reveals Free Playtest until June 14th!

Bogotá (Colombia) June 4, 2026 | Veteran Colombian independent studio Efecto Studios is proud to reveal their new game Bunraku a frantic platform brawler inspired by the art of Japanese puppetry in development for Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5. The game has just opened a free playtest on Steam until June 14. Combat demands mastery of the slashing dash, precision parries, and powerful ninjutsus, integrating the action with a performance in front of a live audience that reacts dynamically to every impact. Bunraku allows for intense ninja battles of up to 8 players, (online or local) jumping into the action in shifting PvP arenas where every combat becomes a staging.

The curtain rises, the lights shine bright ...

... and the performance begins!

In this magical Japanese puppet theater, the spirits of legendary warriors come back to life to recreate ancient battles in a show full of ninja action and tactical combat movements. The audience vibrates with every attack and cheers with every parry while ninja attacks fly across the stage.

Are you ready to take your place in this grand performance? Each act is a high-precision competition where only the most talented will reach glory under the spotlights.

To become the grand champion of the ninja puppets, you must master Ninjutsu: the art of moving, attacking, and countering with incredible speed and precision.

  • Use your Dash to move swiftly across the stage and strike down your opponents in a single hit.
  • The Parry blocks and stuns enemies who dash at you and can even deflect items back at the caster.
  • Find Scrolls on the stage to invoke powerful and varied Jutsu that can turn the tide in your favor.

About Efecto Studios

Efecto Studios is a game development team with over 24 years of experience in the industry. During this time, we have worked on a wide variety of interactive projects, co-developing titles such as Ark: Survival Evolved, Lords of the Fallen, Palia, Battlefield Mobile, Atlas, and Dark & Light.

By accurately assessing our own limitations, we ensure that our goals remain realistic and achievable. Shuten Order - Switch 2 Review

Shuten Order by developers Neilo Inc. & Too Kyo Games in collaboration with DMM GAMES and publisher Spike ChunsoftSwitch 2 review written by Jim with a copy provided by the publisher.

Estimated Reading Time:  4 minutes.

Shuten Order is a challenging game for me to review for multiple reasons. First is some of the subject matter. The game focuses a lot on a God, and I was raised and still am a Christian, so some of the talk might be sensitive for some players. When you use "God's power" to accidentally blow up someone's head at the beginning of the game, I didn't like it. Now, I'm usually okay with most things in games, even if they talk about God or gods, because games are fiction, but I really didn't like how it was used in this game, like praying for the end of humanity. Anything that makes this game hard for me to review is that, every time I play it, something bad happens in real life. I'm not superstitious at all, but when something awful happens every time I play the game, it just gets to me. This also brings me to my apologies to the devs, the publisher, and everyone here at CGR. I'm sorry for taking so long in this review, and thanks for being so understanding about the circumstances.

Mainly, Shuten Order is a visual novel game with multiple paths you have to take to solve the murder of the cult leader of Shuten, who also happens to be the character you are playing as. What makes this visual novel so different is that each path or route you take is a different genre. The genres are murder mystery/investigation, much like the Ace Attorney games; an extreme escape game like the Nonary Games series; a dating sim; and a survival-horror escape game where you mostly just run away from a killer. If you enjoy genre-blending games or murder mysteries, this game offers a variety of experiences, though some may find the religious themes less appealing.

I played through three of these, but as I stated above, each time something happened for real that took me away from the game. I played the murder mystery route, and as a fan of Ace Attorney, I enjoyed this path until the end, that is. After you complete a route, you will be taken back to pick another one, so it doesn't matter what order you pick them in; you will always have a chance to come back and play the others. The second route I took was the horror escape route. It was a decent route, but lacking a little, as the killer is easy to get away from just by hiding. Lastly was the dating sim. I liked this one the least out of the three routes I played. It's less serious than the others, but it's basically like all the other dating-sim VNs out there.

I did run into a few issues with the game. The translation is hit-or-miss, with some sentences making no sense, and I had to reread a few times to understand what it was saying. Another issue was that the text sometimes appears off-screen, and there's no way to see it. In some scenes, the text becomes blurry as a way to make the game scarier or something, but it was annoying to read like that. The game is voiced in Japanese. It wasn't an issue for players in Japan, but with no English dub, this effect should have been changed or removed from the text. Lastly, I ran into a problem a few times when the sound, music, and voices all stopped working, and I had to reset the game to get them working again.

The Japanese voices are good. I wish they would get an English dub for these types of games, but most don't. I liked that the main character is a female who everyone thinks is male, and the Japanese voice actor does a good job of sounding like either a male or a female. All the other voices in the game seem to fit their characters very well. The music is decent for the type of game, too. Graphically, the game is decent for a VN. I like the twists and turns in the game, but the overall religious themes are a huge turnoff for me. A few religious things here and there in a game are fine with me, but when the game seems to be mainly about a cult and religion and God, I just couldn't get into that.

Overall, the game is very unique, and I like that, but it doesn't excel in any of the genres it offers beyond being a VN. The story is okay, but I didn't like the game's theme much. If there were less religion and more about solving a murder, I probably would have enjoyed it more. I won't take points away for it because these are just personal opinions. So, the game is decent but not my cup of tea.

Check Out the Demo of Kingdom Loop an Indie Strategic Roguelike on Steam!

On January 15 players can try a free PC demo of Kingdom Loop, an indie strategic roguelike with deckbuilding set in a medieval fantasy world. The game blends elements inspired by titles like Loop Hero with classic turn-based strategy. The full version of Kingdom Loop is planned for release on PC in the first half of 2026, with console versions to follow on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Kingdom Loop is developed by the independent studio RootGame and will be published by Ultimate Games S.A.

Where Hero Loop Meets Tactical Turn-Based Strategy

Kingdom Loop is a strategic roguelike with 3D visuals and an isometric camera. It draws inspiration from the cult hit Loop Hero and classic turn-based strategies like jRPGs and Heroes of Might and Magic III.

In Kingdom Loop, players guide a hero on a quest for the Grail in a medieval fantasy world where humans and the undead are at war. Each faction has its own traits, and all 8 heroes have unique abilities that change how the game plays.

Build Your Kingdom in an Endless Loop

Kingdom Loop’s gameplay mixes kingdom building, resource management, army development, and combat.

Players guide a hero around an endless loop that circles the Grail Temple. The land has over 200 tiles, each with unique effects that players place using cards. After each loop, enemies get stronger, so players must adapt or risk defeat. Losing can teach valuable lessons for the next attempt.

Kingdom Loop’s turn-based combat relies on dynamic mechanics, where players make important choices about unit selection, positioning, and targets. The game also offers deep systems for managing resources, recruiting different units, and building structures.

Kingdom Loop stands out for its high strategic depth. Strong gameplay variety, combined with significant randomness, allows extensive experimentation with card decks, factions, and synergy creation. As a result, the game offers not only high replayability but also a wide range of viable tactical approaches.

Try the Free Kingdom Loop Demo Now

A free demo of Kingdom Loop has been on Steam since January 15. It gives players an early look at the game and a chance to try its main mechanics.

In the demo, players control one hero from the human faction, each with unique stats. With the card deck, players can try out kingdom building and look for synergies between buildings, resources, and artifacts.

Kingdom Loop Demo – Key Features:

  • 1 human faction hero (unique attributes and card deck)
  • Endless loop-based gameplay
  • Card-driven kingdom building
  • Tactical turn-based combat
  • Resource management and synergy creation
  • Collection of powerful artifacts
  • High replayability

The full PC version of Kingdom Loop is expected in the first half of 2026, with the exact date to be announced. Console versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 will come later.

Forage, Build, and Craft in Relaxing Farming Simulator 'Ancient Farm'

Ancient Farm launches on PC on January 8. This relaxing farming simulator takes place in ancient Egypt during the time of the pharaohs. Players can farm, raise animals, forage, build, craft, and cook. In 2026, the game will also be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Ancient Farm is made by A2 Softworks, an independent Polish studio known for Drill Deal and Gatewalkers. They focus on strategy and simulation games. Ultimate Games S.A. is publishing the PC and console versions.

Become a Farmer in the Egypt of the Pharaohs

Ancient Farm is a farming and animal care simulator set in ancient times. The game offers a calm, relaxing single-player experience from a first-person view. Players start with a small plot and can grow their farm over time.

The game draws inspiration from ancient Egypt. Instead of modern tractors and harvesters, players use simple, old-fashioned tools. There are no modern conveniences, so most tasks are done by hand and depend on the player's effort.

More Than Just Farming and Animal Husbandry

The developers at A2 Softworks point out that Ancient Farm offers more than just farming and raising animals. Players can also forage, build, craft, and cook.

The game features seasonal cycles, changing market prices, and other economic factors. Players need to use resources wisely and can reinvest their earnings to grow their farm.

Players can choose from many plants and animals, letting them shape their farm and try different ways to develop it. Crops include corn, flax, cotton, hemp, wheat, papyrus sedge, sugar cane, grapes, olive trees, and more. Animals include chickens, cows, sheep, and oxen. Many ancient tools help with daily farm work.

Ancient Farm – Key Features:

  • Ancient farming and animal husbandry simulator
  • Setting inspired by ancient Egypt
  • Relaxing and varied gameplay
  • Wide selection of tools, crops, and animals
  • Foraging, construction, crafting, and cooking

Ancient Farm is set to launch on PC (Steam) on January 8, 2026. It will come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 after that.

Crime Simulator Available on Xbox Series X|S Today!

December 1st, 2025 | Crime Simulator arrives on Xbox Series X|S on December 1, featuring stealth, action, and online co-op for up to four players. From the developer of Thief Simulator 2, the game first launched on PC in June 2025, earning positive reviews and selling over 310,000 copies. The PlayStation 5 version is coming in early 2026, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release planned after.

The game was created by CookieDev, a one-person Polish studio also known for Thief Simulator 2. Ultimate Games S.A. publishes the game on both PC and consoles.

Since June, over 310,000 players have purchased the game. On Steam, Crime Simulator has an 81% positive rating from over 2,400 users.

The game has gained popularity on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok, with gameplay videos reaching tens of millions of views. Markiplier, one of the world’s best-known gaming influencers, has also played the title.

Sneak, Steal, and Strike – Solo or CO-OP

Crime Simulator is a first-person criminal underworld simulation that combines stealth gameplay with roguelite progression and character grinding. The game offers single-player and online co-op modes for up to four players.

Gameplay focuses on heist-style missions involving theft, sabotage, and infiltration. Stealth and planning are essential, and direct combat is always a last resort. The main goal is to earn money and acquire valuable goods, but missions can also involve sabotage, destroying targets, or item drops.

Progress lets players gain new skills, buy better equipment, and expand their hideout. During missions, players can use a wide selection of tools and weapons, including lockpicks, crowbars, silenced pistols, drones, and scanners.

Crime Simulator Expands with New Content

The game is still in active development, and the Xbox version already includes the latest update. Version 1.2 adds a new map, Rural Arizona, new dangers such as motion sensors, and cars that players can steal and drive.

CookieDev is preparing more updates. The next Jewels Update (version 1.3), will arrive in early 2026. This free update will introduce new mechanics for jewel theft and new game modes, including Thief Competition Mode and Impostor Mode.

Crime Simulator – Key Features:

  • Survive in the criminal underworld
  • Perform stealth and action-based missions
  • Play solo or in online co-op (up to 4 players)
  • Gain new skills and upgrades
  • Use a wide arsenal of weapons and tools

Crime Simulator launches on Xbox Series X|S on December 1, 2025. The PlayStation 5 version will follow in the first quarter of 2026, and a Nintendo Switch 2 edition is in development.

The standard console price is $19.99 USD or EUR, or regional equivalent. The game is available for pre-order in the Microsoft Store with a 20% discount and a 10% launch discount at release. On Steam, the game will be 30% off from December 1 to 3.
