Midnight Moments is a cozy cyberpunk diorama-building game that is stunning. Unlike games that require you to complete quests or take out assailants or even solve challenging puzzles, this one only requires one thing: imagination.
One might go as far to say that Midnight Moments is barely a game because it lacks any kind of substance like combat or story. Instead it offers something that we may need a little more of, and that is game titles that don't hold our hands or force us into uncomfortable positions. It allows you to build a cyberpunk diorama without limitations to your imagination and ideas.
When you first open up Midnight Moments, the game offers no tutorial nor explanations, it simply has a sidebar of objects based upon their shapes. The game does not tell you that a block is specifically a window. It could be cool lighting for the top part of the giant tower you may create. Building isn't restricted by the type of block you choose either, it is only restricted by what you can dream up with the various block types you are given. And while it may not have a ton of blocks to use for your futuristic dreams, it has enough to build many different cyberpunk landscapes within a 10x10 block.
Of the block choices you can use are terrain pieces, stacking blocks with a couple different patterns, railings, signs, garbage bins, and even a variety of different people. You're able to change the light colors as you wish and the camera controls allow you to move around the space to create the best 3D image you have in mind. While you are designing your diorama, a light rain descends endlessly on your city block to really sell the cyberpunk feel.
This is the type of cozy relaxing builder that doesn't expect you to fix traffic woes or manage population numbers. You won't have it timing you on your builds either. And in today's day and age, a chill game like this is needed. In a world where you are constantly stuck in the day to day, Midnight Moments asks you one simple question: Will you relax long enough to create something cool without anything else getting in the way? If you pick up this game, the answer is most certainly yes.
I don't know what else to tell you. Midnight Moments is a nice little game that you may not open often, but it'll be a nice change from the daily grind.
