• Culdcept the First - Xbox Review

Culdcept the First (also attributed as Culdcept the First Saturn Tribute) is a very fun game, that does show its age. This is basically a re-issue of the 1997 Sega Saturn game that mashes together deckbuilding (think Magic: The Gathering) and boardgames (such as Monopoly).

  • NBA 2K27 - PlayStation 5 Review

With these annual seasonal renewals of the sports season comes the related video games as well, and the question reviewers such as myself always face is this: Is this year’s game worth purchasing one year after the last one? My answer? Yes, absolutely. NBA fans are going to almost certainly enjoy NBA 2K27.

  • Midnight Moments - PC Steam Review

Midnight Moments is a cozy cyberpunk diorama-building game that is stunning. Unlike games that require you to complete quests or take out assailants or even solve challenging puzzles, this one only requires one thing: imagination.

  • Isle of Reveries - PC Review

Isle of Reveries is a top down 2D action adventure game that made my nostalgia for old school Zelda games flare up really hard. A good blending of puzzle, exploration, and combat, Isle of Reveries is a wonderful title to experience inside and out.

  • Outbound - PC Review

Let me tell you about this cozy game my daughter and I are playing together called Outbound. Now, I've been following this game from the initial Kickstarter back in April 2025 to its full release in May 2026. The best Mother's Day gift for myself and my first ever collector's edition in a physical copy!

Rhythm of the Universe Launching on Oculus Quest, PSVR, and PC VR in 2021

BOSTON — Dec. 2, 2020 — IONIA, the first title in the Rhythm of the Universe adventure series about preserving the environment with the power of music theory from ROTU Entertainment, will create a magnificent symphony as a native Oculus Quest app and for PSVR alongside previously announced PC VR headsets in Q2 2021. Two percent of proceeds from the Cannes XR Development Showcase 2020 award-winner and Raindance film festival nominee will benefit environmental non-profit Wildlife Warriors.

Established in 2002 by Steve and Terri Irwin, Wildlife Warriors continues Steve Irwin's legacy of protecting injured, threatened, or endangered wildlife, be it an individual animal or an entire species. Its mission is closely aligned with that of ROTU Entertainment, and the Irwin family supports Rhythm of the Universe: IONIA’s goal of raising awareness for environmental protection issues through immersive entertainment.

As the first of seven games, each with a distinct look and feel, IONIA will introduce an otherworldly forest filled with instrument-inspired flora and fauna. The world is alive with the sounds of music as hands-on interactions between VR controllers and denizens of the woods send sharp drum beats, soft bell tones, and other good vibrations humming through the air. Carve a path into a jungle teeming with life to save the Harpa, a mythical being facing peril.

Rescuing the Harpa while exploring the mysterious forest and its looming ruins is no small task. Climb trees, zipline across trenches, collect supplies, and solve puzzles using music-based magic to push back the vines hiding a mystical narrative and lively ecosystem all designed around the Rhythm of the Universe. Reveal hidden areas, unlock the power of tonal tablets, and most importantly, heal the forest through the power of song.

"We’ve made the decision to delay our musical theory puzzle adventure so we can bring it to Quest and PSVR players at the same time," says Jason Parks, ROTU CEO. "We want everyone with a VR headset to be able to explore the gorgeous world we’ve created from our experiences working extensively with international musicians and documenting the deforestation of the Amazon.”

Rhythm of the Universe: IONIA will be available for Oculus Quest natively as well as through Oculus Link, PSVR, Valve Index, Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive, Vive Pro, and HP Reverb G2 with English, Spanish, French, and German language support. IONIA is rated E for Everyone and equivalent in regions around the world.

For more information about Rhythm of the Universe: IONIA, please visit the official website, follow the game on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and join the official community on Discord.

In Death: Unchained Receives Major Graphic Update!

04 November 2020 | Wroclaw, Poland - Oculus Quest’s highest-rated archery game, In Death: Unchained has just received a major graphical update for Quest 2.

In Death: Unchained already stands out from the mobile VR crowd with its detailed visuals and natural lighting, and the new major update further establishes it as the benchmark of visual quality on mobile VR.

“We wanted the update to really show off what the new headset can do, and this is arguably the biggest Quest 2 update among existing games” says Wojtek Podgórski, Superbright’s CEO.

“The team’s been hard at work on visual upgrades that leverage Quest 2’s beefier and more modern hardware. We’ve been working on this since the game came out, it took major effort but we can now display the game's whole world at once, with beautiful new atmospheric effects, while making everything even sharper and smoother. The game just looks and feels even better on Quest 2”.

The developer says players can expect even more visual upgrades, some of which are expected to trickle down to the original Quest, while the developer is also working on a free DLC for both Quest 1 & 2, to be released mid-November.

Improvements players can expect from the Quest 2 update:

Whole world at once, with improvements in performance and quality

The game now loads and displays the whole world at once so the players can see far into the distance, enjoy heavenly vistas and get a better sense of direction in the game.

  • New atmospheric fog - Built from the ground up to deliver the heavenly look of In Death: Unchained, the update brings a new volumetric, multi-layered custom fog that spans the whole world.

  • Additional level pieces - The game’s world includes additional floating islands that help fill out the world outside of the play areas

  • Sharper visuals (Fixed Foveated Rendering is turned OFF on Quest 2) - Combining the game’s optimizations and Quest 2’s power, the update turns off fixed foveated rendering and the output is super crisp on Quest 2.

  • New cloud shadows - The game adds a subtle cloud shadow effect to the whole level, adding to the heavenly look.

  • Updated snow shader - The snow shader on the boulders that support the buildings has been updated.

  • Updated texture filtering - Texture LOD’s/mipmaps are tuned for more quality on Quest 2, combined with the FFOV OFF increasing the overall quality to make the game look sharper.

  • Overall comfort - The game feels smoother, especially in big fights, thanks to the increased CPU power and game optimizations.

In Death Unchained Announced!

16 June 2020 | Wroclaw, Poland - Today during the UploadVR Summer Showcase, Superbright announced their debut Oculus Quest title - In Death: Unchained.

In Death: Unchained brings the rogue-lite experience screaming onto the Oculus Quest as few other games have done before for the platform. Grab your longbow and rain down arrows against the forsaken souls, angelic creatures, and demons that have taken over the afterlife as you battle through the procedurally generated levels of Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell.

Initially created by Solfar Studios as In Death, Superbright develops the IP further to give Oculus Quest the rogue-lite the platform needs. The game is thoroughly extended with a new content, experience, and love that the title deserves.

A Medieval VR Shooter with a Rogue-lite Twist:

In Death: Unchained takes the classic rogue-lite experience and finally puts it into the highly responsive and immersive world of VR. Procedural generation randomizes the map layout, enemy spawn points and loot locations, while modifiers based on your previous run ensure each new attempt is different.

Fight Like Hell

Manoeuvre and outthink your enemies to gain the upper hand. Muster precise accuracy for long range longbow attacks. Tap into your reflexes to dodge incoming arrows or use your shield to block ranged and melee threats. Upgrade your bow with a host of special arrows gained by looting monsters, finding pick-ups or by visiting in-level Reliquaries where you can power up with a range of special arrows to help you blast through ever harsher enemy encounters.

Death is Not Defeat

Game progression is driven by an achievement system that persists across each run and scales the difficulty level of the game to players as they master the game. But death does not mean defeat as each run earns you special abilities or modifiers that carry over to the start of your next run.

Custom Forged for the Oculus Quest

In Death: Unchained has been purposefully built to use all the features of the Oculus Quest and take full advantage of a VR experience that is unchained and untethered to a PC. Locomotion, aiming, shooting, dodging incoming fire, using the environment for cover, head and arm tracking etc are all tweaked and tuned to work fully in tandem with the freedom the Quest offers.

Just who exactly are Superbright?

Superbright is a collective of veteran AAA and Silicon Valley developers whose previous work includes Dead Island, Dying Light and Cyberpunk 2077. Launched in 2016 with a sole focus on VR, Superbright has a history of launch projects and cooperation with companies like Oculus, Google, Sony, or Varjo.

In Death: Unchained will launch in July 2020 and is Superbright’s first exclusive title for the Oculus Quest joining the few games to be approved for the platform this year as Oculus continues with their carefully curated, quality games only, approach.
