Horror Genre Meets Farming Simulation in Harvest Island 2.0 Update!

California, March 2, 2025 | Indie developer Yobob Games is thrilled to announce the upcoming 2.0 update to its acclaimed horror-meets-farming simulation, Harvest Island. The highly anticipated Harvest Island 2.0 marks a major evolution for the game, delivering comprehensive enhancements that rebuild the experience from the ground up - complete with reimagined systems, expanded narrative elements, and atmospheric improvements.

A brand new announcement trailer has dropped as well, giving players their first look at what’s in store for version 2.0.

What to Expect in Version 2.0:

  • Free movement and redesigned world: Move beyond grid-based traversal and explore the island with greater fluidity and immersion.
  • Dynamic lighting and new atmospheric effects: Enhancing both the mystery and the eerie tone that defines Harvest Island.
  • Expanded storyline content: Including deeper character arcs and questlines to uncover more of the island’s secrets. There will be multiple endings. Important characters will have their own endings: Greyson, Ariel, Ochya, Will, Samantha, Becky, and more.
  • New trust mechanic: Dad will now play an important role in Harvest Island and will provide a lot more quests. There is now a trust meter with dad, as well. Increase your trust meter by doing quests and he’ll allow you to explore deeper into the island. Breaking trust dynamically changes exploration.
  • New magic mechanic: The character will now have a second resource bar called magic. Magic will be used to evolve crops to a blessed state, transforming them from regular crops to blessed crops.
  • Improved interactions and visuals: With animated portraits during dialogue, refined camera behavior, and more intuitive in-game mechanics.
  • New moon system: Every other night, the game becomes pitch black, making your exploration rely on light sources. This introduces rare items that are only available during the new moon.
  • Harvest time dial: A device that speeds up the game’s time. Plants will grow faster, tides can change quicker, and the days can pass by quicker. This allows the game to speed up for things you must wait on.
  • Rebuilt in Godot engine: Modernizing the game’s foundation for smoother performance and future update scalability.

This update represents a pivotal moment for Harvest Island, elevating both gameplay and storytelling while preserving the magical balance between cozy farming and unsettling mystery that players have come to expect.

About Harvest Island

Living with your family on a remote island, you discover a sinister purpose of your existence. Look for a way to escape your idyllic farm life. Offer your Harvest Offering to the gods to keep up with the façade. Question everything and fake your blissful farming days.

Originally released in October 2023 to positive reception, Harvest Island is a story-driven, mysterious, dark, lore-rich adventure with horror and farming elements such as watering crops, collecting livestock produce, befriending wild animals, collecting tidepool critters, and catching fish for the gods. You can discover lots of well-hidden places like a cave behind a waterfall or befriending wild animals that'll take you to new places or finding a randomly placed vending machine in a dark underground, hidden room along the beach. The places are hard to discover because of the maze-like island. Tides impede your adventure so conveniently, your dad always dismisses your curious questions, and your sister finds it odd that things on the island are purposefully hidden with some kind of weird message. You'll need to figure out what's wrong with Harvest Island, why the kids are alone with just their father, and dive deep into the lore of Harvest Island to figure out this mysterious, dark story.

The game has continued to evolve since launch, including an Expanded Ending DLC, adding multiple narrative conclusions for players to experience.

With the 2.0 update, the game’s core mechanic changes. You must explore the island all while building trust with your father. Do quests, farm for the gods, or give him gifts to build trust. Achievements will be earned throughout the story and provide permanent buffs, allowing you to explore further. Tides will impede your adventure but you are able to swim to overcome this obstacle at the cost of stamina in which the achievements will provide. The entire island is maze-like with an entirely new redesign level.
