DOOM Open Beta - PS4 Preview / Play Time
I have been gaming for a long time now, and more and more lately certain video games just tug at my nostalgic strings. While anything related to the NES seems capable of doing that, there are a handful of old PC games that do so just as effectively and DOOM has always been right there among them. Chris and I spent a good deal of time over the weekend playing the DOOM Open Beta, and came away pretty happy with what we saw, though we both had different takeaways and questions afterwards.

Dark Souls III - Xbox One Review
Dark Souls III is a combination of different games, pulling influence from earlier the earlier Souls and Bloodborne games for inspiration and lessons learned. To that end, Dark Souls III is a complex, challenging game that continues to reward perseverance and punishes those unwilling to adapt to its distinct style of play. Ultimately it is a rewarding title that fans of the series will enjoy, though I did come away with the distinct impression that it was less its own game and more a culmination of the prior ones.

Doom - Reminder of Open Beta and some Post-Launch Content
Doom is one of those games that strikes up some nostalgia for me due to all of the time I spent playing the game back in high school. Later on the series took some twists and turns, but by and large I enjoyed them. As a result? I have been keeping a close eye on all things Doom news going forward. Some of that biggest news is this: reminder that starting tomorrow you can play the Open Beta.
