Alone in the Dark: Illumination - PC Review

This is going to be one of those titles that most people either love or hate, depending on how they feel about action with their horror. Sometimes those things mix decently, though I will admit that my personal preference leans towards a slower burn. For example the Dead Space series went off of the rails for me with its third installment that became more of an action game than a suspense one. There are certainly some solid scares to be had in Alone in the Dark: Illumination, but by and large it feels like a collection of interesting ideas that are lacking in execution.

Adventures of Pip - Wii U Review

Indie titles are often plagued with sprite graphics, and I use the word plagued in the most reverent way; being a huge fan of them, but The Adventures of Pip takes that ball and runs in an entirely different direction with it.  The smooth sprites in this game leave you feeling quite out of place at first, being a single oversized pixel in a hi-res game world, and indeed, the townsfolk are quite ressist (prejudice against lower resolutions) to further drive this point home.  The beautiful princess is kidnapped, however, by the evil (more of a radical freedom fighter in hindsight) witch that most stories like this have.

Toukiden: Kiwami - PC Review

Toukiden and I have a history together. Having never played a Monster Hunter entry by that point it was the second time that I had played something of the sort. Let’s say that it was a good thing because I really didn’t enjoy Soul Sacrifice or Soul Sacrifice Delta when I tried them out. Since then I’ve played a Monster Hunter, I’ve had a lot of fun with Toukiden: Kiwami on the PS4, and now I’ve had a chance to run it on the PC. How does it hold up to its console counterpart? Golem Arcana - Urugal: Reapers of the Sands - Tabletop and Board Games Review

Roughly a month ago, I reviewed the Golem Arcana Base Set after playing it for quite a few hours with Chris. Then last week, I took a look at the recent Zikia: Heralds of the Great Weald expansion. Another expansion we had the opportunity to kick the tires on was the Urugal: Reapers of the Sands kit. Similar to the Zikia one, the box comes with three different sized golems, each with their own unique traits, and a quartet of relic cards to be scanned into the application as well.
