It would seem like with me regularly working 55-65 hours a week over the last month, my dad visiting from Florida for a couple of weeks and the kids starting up on school again that I would be struggling to find time to play games, but that really has not been the case. I think what I'm sacrificing (other than sanity) is sleep as a result.
Legends of Pegasus - PC Review

Kalypso media has released some good, ambitious games in the past. Sometimes however, their ambitious outstrip their resources I think. Dungeons was a title that I thought had a great premise, but a fairly poor execution as I said in my review. When I read about the 4X strategy title Legends of Pegasus, I immediately liked what they were trying to do - but I also was a bit worried that the game itself might come out a bit lacking in the end.

Here it is - my Madden 13 review. It is a fairly sizable one, complete with some video clips as well as images so I do hope you enjoy. I was going to post this tomorrow, but seeing as my dad is up visiting from out of state and there will be plenty of football to watch this weekend? I suspect I'm going to have a busy few days on my hands. Hope you all have a great upcoming weekend. And now? For the review...
I really, really love the fall.
Crock pot meals (like chili and beef stew), the cooler weather (I was not cut out for 100 degree + high humidity), the kids start school again (okay, my wife's probably more excited for that one than I am) and... oh yes, the NFL kicked off last night. I am a huge fan of the National Football League and have been since Barry Sanders was making defense players around the league look foolish years ago.

Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix - Xbox Live Review
September 04, 2012blog, Microsoft Xbox 360, Street Fighter, Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix, Xbox 360 Review
I hope all of you had a really nice weekend. Seeing as that here in the States it was a holiday weekend, giving me an extra day off of work - I particularly enjoyed it. I spent a large chunk of time working on Madden and Dragon's Dogma. So, now for the lats of my 'Street Fighter' posts - this one with a slightly less serious theme.
I figured with all of the 'hardcore' fighting posts that I put up over the last several updates, I would cap things off with a related, but still slightly less serious post. For all of my history with the older Street Fighter games, I completely missed Puzzle Fighter until it came out on Xbox Live a few years ago. I picked it up on a whim one day while it was on sale.

Super Street Fighter IV - 3DS Review
What - what? Didn't I just review this game like 5 minutes ago in another post?
Well, kind of - but not. I picked up Street Fighter IV shortly after it released some time ago, and then traded it in. Then when my wife got me my 3DS for Christmas last year, she picked up a slew of games for me (rough life, eh?). One of them was Super Street Fighter IV. So, this was the first of the Capcom reiterations of the Street Fighter IV series. Normally, I do not know if I would bother to write up a full review for this new version, but the key for me is that it is on a new system, with a new audience while having more than just superficial tweaks to the original formula.

I was not planning on getting a post out today. I was going to let my Street Fighter IV review sit at the top of the mountain for an extra day before I did my next Street Fighter review tomorrow. Then I stumbled onto something when I was surfing the web early this morning - but the original Street Fighter video game was released in the arcade on August 30th, 1987 - so happy 25th birthday Street Fighter!
Street Fighter IV - Xbox 360 Review
I picked this title up for Xbox 360 for one reason (usually if a game has an online mode, I grab it for PS3), and one reason only at the time - one of my best friends growing up was a huge Street Fighter fan, just like I was. At the time, he only had an Xbox 360. He was always better than I was, usually by a narrow margin. If we played 5 games, he would win three. I almost always used Ryu, he would break out Ken. Fireballs and dragon punches ensued.

I first played this version of Street Fighter on my Sega Dreamcast years ago. I recall being a bit thrown by it at first. I had spent so much time playing Street Fighter II and its fifty variants that I had grown incredibly comfortable with a handful of characters like Ryu, Ken, Cammie and Guile. I figured my Street Fighter II experience would translate well to this new game, but that was only half-true.
Rage of Bahamut - iPhone Review
Recently, I mentioned getting an iPhone - which was sorely needed since my old phone was dropping calls and the touch screen stopped responding to... well... touch. That seemed problematic.
Of course, one of the things I was most excited about was getting some portable games to lay on my iPhone while out and about too. I have gotten a chance to play several of late, and I plan to toss out some quick reviews on them here and there. The first one I want to write about?

Farewell, Nintendo Power
August 23, 2012Adventures of Link, Batman, NES, News and Previews, Nintendo Power, Simon's Quest, Super C, Super Mario Bros. 3, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, TMNT, Zelda II
I was going to hit you all with a roughly two week stream of straight up Street Fighter, but then I saw the Nintendo Power announcement and felt the need to write something up sooner rather than later.
I have been playing video games for a long time. A loooong time, it seems. Still, when I got my first NES, it was as though a whole new world of video gaming adventures was being put in front of me. The kinds of games that came out had a depth to them that was missing in my games played before that. With my NES I got a subscription to Nintendo Power, which I kept active for a few years. The earliest issues were certainly my most memorable though.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - PSN & Xbox Live Review
August 22, 2012capcom, Microsoft Xbox 360, Microsoft Xbox 360 Review, Playstation Network Review, PS3 Review, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
This is going to be the first of a few Street Fighter reviews. I purchased this on Xbox Live quite some time ago, but had a chance to pick it up for free on PlayStation Network as well. Having played both versions, there is almost no difference between them except the controllers and the fact that PSN is free. The original Street Fighter II came out a very long time ago, and the title of this game cracks me up because I actively experienced the various iterations of Street Fighter II with its various Turbo, Super, Championship Edition remakes.
How about some Street Fighter?

Uh-oh. Yup, I'm at it again. It's getting on toward fall, and with it a change in my color scheme and soon my banner. I will likely run with this one until it starts to snow, and then I'll go to a lighter theme I already laid out. Personally though - this white on black is my favorite.
I hope you do not mind if I have a few posts themed on Street Fighter coming up over the next week or two?
I was playing Street Fighter III on the PlayStation Network and then later, Street Fighter IV for my 3DS. My son does not particularly like the Street Fighter games. In general he is not much of a fighting game fan, but he did enjoy the Dead or Alive Dimensions game for the 3DS, but he gave up on Street Fighter IV very quickly. He just does not see what I do in them. I have been a huge Street Fighter fan since II hit the arcade scene.

Good grief, am I glad the weekend's nearly here. I am going to be pretty busy tomorrow as I head out of town with my wife and youngest for a small trip related to her Girl Scouts troop. I have a larger-than-normal night of Magic: The Gathering coming up on Monday as well that I need to make sure my top decks are in shape for (I have a very cool new exalted deck I will likely post about here after Monday when I see how it plays). Still, I have a lot more than that going on. I want to remind you that I have a contest still you can enter until tomorrow night for a free iPad game.
So, to kick things off... I got to play the Madden 13 demo last night.
