  • Minos - PC (Steam) Review

The tower defense genre is one that doesn't tend to innovate much with static maps, various traps, and its simple to grasp gameplay loops. At least, that is until Minos with a mighty laugh to prove you wrong.

  • Decollate Decoration - PS5 Review

Hello everyone and welcome to a new KEMCO title! But wait a moment, this one is different to the retro JRPGs that you’re probably expecting when you hear KEMCO from me by this point. Instead what we have is a sort of point-and-click style visual novel! Something a little new and fresh coming out here!

  • John Carpenter's Toxic Commando - PC Review

Toxic Commando harkens back to video games years ago when they were fun and innovative while giving the player freedom to explore among the waves of enemies in a 4 player chaotic onslaught of combat and driving mechanics.

  • Dread Delusion - Xbox Series X|S Review

Today we’re looking at what has rapidly become an absolute favorite in the open-world RPG genre for me. An interesting story, memorable NPCs, stunning visuals, and a setting absolutely dripping with flavor, Dread Delusion sets its tone immediately and sticks with it.

  • People of Note - PS5 Review

...I love music in general. After playing the People of Note demo, I knew I had to play the full game.

Assassin's Creed III - Xbox 360 Review

I really was not planning on playing Assassin's Creed III. I played and mostly enjoyed the first entry on the Xbox 360 several years ago, and my son has played and generally enjoyed later iterations - but I have not gotten around to trying those ones yet.

Link's Crossbow Training - Wii Review

Just a quickie for this Wed...

Now that the Wii is basically on its last legs as a system (some would probably argue it lost its legs two years ago and has been on the ground dead ever since), I thought it might be interesting to take a quick look back at one of the earliest titles that released for it and that I acquired: Link's Crossbow Training.

Outlast looks like it could be a good scare

I am a big fan of horror games and I contend that Fatal Frame is my favorite series of horror games to date. That said, Red Barrel's Outlast looks like it has some potential.

To the Moon - PC Review

I had heard of To the Moon, but never really looked into it much. I recalled a couple of friends stating that they thought it was a different, unique game - but given my usual backlog of titles, I never got around to picking it up and trying it.

Then, just before the holidays ol' 8-Bit Nick (I'm going to link to his site, even though he has not posted in a while. Hopefully he will see this and suddenly be inspired!) gifted this to me on Steam. With the whole purchasing excuse out of the way, the only thing I really had left to overcome was making time for it. Then I wound up with about a week off of work around New Year, and that excuse was gone as well.

Dead or Alive 5 - PlayStation 3 Review

Dead or Alive was one of those fighting franchises that always looked nice, but I never got around to playing early on. My first brush with the series was Dead or Alive 4 on the Xbox 360.

Dead or Alive 4 - Xbox 360 Review

While the Dead or Alive series has been around for several years, this was my first brush with any of its games. Dead or Alive 4 has been out for a handful of years in and of itself now, and was one of the earlier titles I picked up when I purchased my Xbox 360.

Sega Classics - PSN Review

Call it Retro Reflections, classic gaming or 'old school' - but I spent a lot of time with my Sega Genesis when I was younger.  I posted an article about when I first acquired the Genesis here if you are interested in reading that and had not yet.  I got a handful of games with it and quickly expanded my library due to a movie and game rental business that was going out of business shortly afterward.

Naruto Powerful Shippuden - 3DS Review

Last year when I played Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, it was one of the most entertaining games I had gotten my hands on in 2012. I fully plan and look forward to playing Ninja Storm 3. I am not the most devout of Naruto fans - I always followed other shows like Dragon Ball Z a bit more closely, but Bandai Namco's Naruto games usually entertain me quite a bit.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken - Vita review

The introduction to Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is confusing, but right away the humor and excellent art style show right through. That allowed me to just accept the odd beginning and start to play the actual game, which turned out to be better than I expected initially.

Always-On DRM? Seems like a bad idea to me

Okay, I am cheating for my weekend post. A few things came up and what I was hoping to make go live tomorrow? Probably will not happen until Monday now. However, I wrote something up for Digitally Downloaded here that I hope you want to take a peek at and weigh in on.

Alien Hominid HD - Xbox Live Review

I recently talked about Castle Crashes, which was a game that I enjoyed very thoroughly. That was reason enough for me to invest in their earlier game, Alien Hominid HD for the Xbox Live.

Looking back at my last month in gaming

I finally just knocked out a bunch of titles that had been backing up on me. Not a bunch of heavy RPGs - though I have now started a couple of those as well. Still, probably my 'busiest' gaming month in some time. I am hoping to crank out a few more of these over the next couple of months.

Castle Crashers - Xbox Live Review

Definitely continued the theme of gaming heavily over the last few days. I grabbed all of the Fire Emblem DLC and worked through it, and then played and beat Plants vs. Zombies on my Vita (free for PlayStation Plus right now), played through all of the modes of Dead or Alive 5, gained a couple of levels in Black Ops II and plugged about another dozen hours into Ni No Kuni. Oh, and I watched seasons 1 and 2 of Game of Thrones on Blu-ray. Sleep is highly overrated. Hope you all had a good weekend and now... onto the review!

I had never heard of Castle Crashers by The Behemoth, who had also worked on and released the popular but challenging Alien Hominid beforehand. My son however, had seen video of Castle Crashers and desperately wanted to play it on the Xbox 360, so I finally gave it and purchased it. It immediately became a hit with him and my youngest.

Dead or Alive Dimensions - 3DS Review

Having just logged some serious time with Dead or Alive 5 (it being among the several games I have beaten recently - Halo: Anniversary and a pair of PSP games also got topped this week) - I thought this was a good time to look back at one of my first 3DS titles.

I do not have as long of a history with the Dead or Alive series as I do with others like Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. The only other game in the Dead or Alive series I have played to date was number four on the Xbox 360 a few years ago. However, two of the first games I got for my Nintendo 3DS were this and Super Street Fighter IV.
