Games of April 2017

It's that time again!

This month is going to be a good one with games like Persona 5, Dragon Quest Warriors II, Dawn of War III and A Rose in the Twilight.

Tuesday April 4th

LEGO City Undercover - PS4, XB1, Switch

It's been a long time in coming but LEGO City Undercover is making its way from the WiiU over to the PS4, XB1 and Switch almost five years later. Better late than never?

Persona 5 - PS3, PS4

It's here! It's finally here! Atlus' Person 5 launches tomorrow. If you haven't had a chance to experience this slice of life crazy dungeon crawling JRPG series by this point. Now would be a good time to start.

ArmaGallant: Decks of Destiny - PS4

ArmaGallant looks interesting for fans of Deck building games as you can battle other players either as a 1v1 or even as 2v2 but in an RTS / MOBA like setting. It looks quite interesting.

Friday April 7th

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition - PS4, XB1, PC

This is still quite very much on my to-do list. It has been out for a very long time on the previous generation. I have it sitting in my backlog pile. I just never got around to it and probably should have. New versions are always a good excuse no?

Tuesday April 11th

A Rose In The Twilight - Vita, PC

A Rose in the Twilight is the latest in the graphical vien of htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary and Yomawari: Night Alone. Dive into a somber world as a girl who has been cursed with a throne on her back travels with a giant who looks like a snail's shell. Will they manage to make it out together? They'll have to as neither can make it on their own.

Stardew Valley (Physical release) - PS4, XB1

Here is another item on my to-do list that I have not yet touched. It's released on Steam, it's released on the PSN and now? Now it's getting a shiny new box to sit in the real world. I've got to get around to playing this...

Starblood Arena VR - PSVR

The name pretty much says it all. I'll eventually invest in a VR headset as these games look cool but unfortunately I've got to pass for now. Have one? Starblood Arena looks like it's worth diving into.

Yooka-Laylee - PS4, XB1, PC

This name didn't mean that much to me at first other than "huh that looks like a cute N64 ~ PS2 era game. Then I saw that it comes from the creative talent behind the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country games. I hope that it shapes up to be on the same level as those past masterpieces!

Wednesday April 12th

The Sexy Brutale (digital only) - PS4, XB1, PC

I'm letting the page speak for itself. It has my attention though:

"Set during a single, endlessly-looping day within "The Sexy Brutale" – a stately English mansion converted into a bizarre casino and named by the enigmatic Marquis – players take on the role of elderly priest Lafcadio Boone. To progress, Boone must hide, watch and learn the colorful stories of the other guests at the ball in order to save them from grisly deaths at the hands of the mansion's staff. By discovering the key moments and methods how each guest can be saved and gaining occult-seeming powers linked to their masks, Lafcadio is able to explore deeper and deeper into the mysteries of the mansion's past and inhabitants to uncover the truth hidden at the heart of The Sexy Brutale."

Tuesday April 18th

Runbow Pocket Deluxe Edition - 3DS

It took me a moment to look at the trailer to really get it but Runbow has an awesome concept. "Swipes of color change the world! If you cna't see it, it doesn't exist." With the colors that can move across the screen on their own, it looks like a good bit of fun for the 3DS.

The Silver Case - PS4

A long time in coming from it's original PlayStation version back in 1999, The Silver Case is making its return on the PS4.

Monday April 24th

PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness - PC

Like a few others such as Operation Abyss, some of the Atelier Series and Danganronpa, PSYCHO-PASS is now seeing a PC release to hit the trifecta of available platforms. Would it hit a Nintendo console? Maybe we'll find out with the Switch.

Tuesday April 25th

Puyo Puyo Tetris - PS4, Switch

If you ask me any Tetris is a good Tetris. If there's one thing any kid should grow up playing it's this as it helps for quick decision making and motor controls. I'm serious! That and as funny to say it's my grandmother that taught me how to play this which is funny because the interface burnt into her tv screen.

All that said, here's Tetris with some cute thrown into the mix with multiple game modes and designs.

Outlast Trinity - PS4, XB1

Fan of horror games? Haven't sat down to Outlast, Outlast 2 or the DLC to Outlast? Now's your chance as they are all being packaged together and physically!

Outlast 2 - PC

In the extra same vein as above, haven't played Outlast and you're a PC user? Outlast 2 is making its way there!

Valhalla Hills - PS4, XB1

I linked the title to the Steam page since the main website wasn't working over the weekend for some reason. Maybe the Vikings broke that as well on their way to bang on the doors of Asgard in which they have just been denied. Making its way over to the consoles from the PC this is definitely a title worth looking into as I quite enjoyed it on the PC.

Edit: It just takes a long time to load, Valhalla Hills Website

Dragon Quest Heroes II - PS4, PC

I was a big fan of the first and I am quite looking forward to the second. With new heroes to enjoy your quest with, jump back into a Warriors (Musou) styled experience with the wonderfully colored world of Dragon Quest.

Lock's Quest - PS4, XB1, PC

There are games depending on when they release that we can entirely miss and Lock's Quest is one of these. Having released almost a decade ago on the DS it's back for the current generation of home consoles.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 - PS4, XB1, PC

I'm not sure I've even heard of SGW or SGW2... that said I'm intrigued by the gameplay.

Syberia 3 - PS4, XB1, PC

This is a series that I've been looking at for a long time now and think maybe it should be a good time to jump into it since the third is launching later this month.

Thursday April 27th

Expeditions: Viking - PC

I think Ragnarok is coming... Between the Wolves of Midgard last month, Valhalla Hills earlier this month and now more Vikings? Somethings up and we should be well prepared!

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III - PC

Having just sat down to the Dawn of War II - Master Collection I'm more than ready for Dawn of War 3. I'm just glad that the series is being continued under someone new after THQ went under.

Friday April 28th

Cooking Mama: Sweet Shop - 3DS

Cooking Mama is back and this time I hope your sweet tooth is ready!

Little Nightmares - PS4, XB1, PC

I'm not one for Horror Games but Little Nightmares with its platforming and interesting concepts may have me terrifying myself soon enough.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Switch

*sighs* I liked Mario Kart 8 but I would have much rather prefered a Mario Kart 9? Best of? Something new for hte new console instead of another port. Seriously Nintendo don't screw this generation of your console up.

Period: Cube - Shackles of Amadeus - Vita

Last on the list is a new Visual Novel from Idea Factory and Akss Games.
"In search of your older brother's whereabouts, you join the online RPG, "Arcadia" in search of clues. Having lost consciousness after being drawn into a mysterious light, you wake up within the game's fantasy world! Confused and shaken by your strange yet familiar surroundings, you learn that the only way to escape this world of life-or-death is to clear the game. As the gameworld begins to crumble and fall apart, you gain the status of the "Shinken" (divine sword), key to clearing the game, and become targeted by hordes of enemies."
