We are giving away some copies of Agarest: Generations of War Zero

Recently Agarest: Generations of War Zero released on Steam for PC gamers, and if you read our review, you know that Robert really enjoyed the game. Well now we want to share that enjoyment with our readers!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn - PS4 Review

There has been a lot of talk about another MMO of late, the recently released The Elder Scrolls Online for PC. Making fewer waves but presenting a better overall game was the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. This title has been out for several months now on PC and PlayStation 3, where it was warmly received by both critics and the community, but this is our first full review of the game - and we thought its recent release to PlayStation 4 was the perfect time to take a step back and look at it.

Divinity: Original Sin Release Announcement

One of the more intriguing RPG titles slated for this year has been Divinity: Original Sin. It will be releasing June 20th this year (it already has early access via Steam) for Windows. Here is the latest press release and trailer.

Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten - PC Review

One of the worst feelings as a game is having your hopes up about a game, only to come away horribly disappointed. Dungeons was one such game for me when I panned it in my review. What is even better however, are those pleasant surprises you just never see coming. Defender's Quest is one such title for me.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare gets a PC release date

Plants vs. Zombies was a riot - I thoroughly enjoyed it on Xbox One when it released. Fear not PC owners, but you too will have the opportunity to participate on some foliage versus undead warfare.

Agarest: Generations of War Zero - PC Review

Agarest: Generations of War Zero is a PC port of the prequel to the Agarest War games; solid strategy RPG entries on home consoles and this newest port is a welcome addition to a longstanding family of spectacular role-playing games. In true-to-the-family fashion, Generations of War Zero puts you in control of a veritable cast of characters, allows you to build them up both in the standard fashion of leveling as well develop your character through the Card Skill feature.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - and getting a quick pre-view look at it

Borderlands 1 and 2 took gaming by storm with its combination of action, comic styled visuals, loads of weapon loot and over-the-top violence and humor. It is to no one's surprise that yet another is in the works, this time featuring the storyline of Handsome Jack as he attempts to escape from the Hyperion moon base and make it his.

Card Hunter: Attack of the Artifacts Expansion Released

Card Hunter was one of my favorite surprise titles last year. It was web-based, it was free... it was also an addictive blend of strategy and old school D&D. Seriously, it was definitely worth checking out - here is our review if you missed it. So how can you take an already awesome free game and make it better? Add content.

Trials Fusion - PC Review

The Trials series of games from developer Red Lynx has really carved out a niche for itself since the original Javascript game in 2000. The first Trials game was a browser-based take on the motorcycle sport of Observed Trials, a sport wherein riders must use their skill to traverse a complex set of terrain and obstacles without breaking contact with their bike. The mechanics of the sport translate well to a two-dimensional plane - your motorcycle rider can accelerate or brake, and lean forward or backward. The skill comes in by timing bursts of acceleration with proper leaning to approach various inclines, gaps, and jumps.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Wii Review

We do not write about the Wii real often anymore, but there are still plenty of good games out there for the system, and every now and then it is nice to take a look back at some of those we have had a chance to play recently, but not had the opportunity to review in the past. Muramasa: The Demon Blade was a title that caught me completely by surprise. I was able to look at the images on the box and determined it was a pretty game, and the concept sounded entertaining enough, but I wound up enjoying it a lot more than I originally had expected to.

Theatrythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call announced

Give how popular the last one was and how much worldwide adoration there is for the music in the long running , Final Fantasy series, I think it was only a matter of time until an announcement for a game like this was made by Square Enix.

2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil - PS 3 Review

I enjoy a lot of different sports titles. Probably the two types of sports most deeply engrained in my video game psyche are basketball and football. I have logged more hours than I would ever want to count on titles like Madden, NBA 2K, Tecmo Bowl and NBA Live. Other types of sports make their way into my living room now and then. I pick up a golf, baseball or hockey game every few years. One series that was completely new to me until recently was the FIFA soccer franchise.

Bandai Namco announces several new games

Just announced - Bandai Namco has several games coming up in the near future. These titles include GRID Autosport, PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures 2, Power Rangers Super Megaforce, Rise of Incarnates, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and Tales of Hearts R.

In addition to these announcements, some updates on other games were shared out as well.

A new Fatal Frame for the Wii U announced

Fatal Frame is one of the creepiest video game series ever to grace any console or computer. Now it may be coming to the current generation as Tecmo KOEI and Nintendo have come together to create the next iteration for the Wii U. That would be good enough news for fans of the series, but apparently there is more in the works.

Who wants to play a more classic games on their Vita?

I imagine more than a few of you would raise your hand at that question, right? Good news then, because whether by some happy accident or some incredibly sneaky planning by Sony, apparently a large collection of previously unavailable titles just popped up as available on the SEN web store. That is right: all the digital PSone and PSP games should be accessible on your Vita. Sound too good to be true? It might be - but what it if isn't?

Demon Gaze - PS Vita Review

NIS America's trend of bringing strong if niche titles to the US continues with Demon Gaze. For fans of the Wizardry or Etrian series, you should feel right at home here crawling through dungeons, grinding out levels and finding new loot to either put to use or sell. The experience could prove more daunting however, if you are not familiar with first-person RPG titles.

Bound by Flame - a few screenshots and a preview on choices

Bound by Flame has been one of the more interesting titles to be talked about over the last several months. We love our RPGs and this one looks like it might have a great deal of potential. Focus Interactive released a quick but interesting press release along with a handful of screenshots.

Cloudbuilt - PC Review

Providing players with a sense of on-foot mobility has been an evolutionary process since B.J Blazkowicz took his first steps in Wolfenstein. Shortly thereafter, a player could circle-strafe, jump or rocket jump in games such as Quake, Doom and Unreal Tournament. Players would even take it upon themselves to abuse the physics engine just to squeeze even more momentum out of a game, leading to the concept of Bunnyhopping - essentially defying friction by crouch-jumping to gain more speed than the game intended. In the modern shooter, we now have mantling over obstacles from cover, double jumps, dolphin dives, roadie runs and wall climbs. Things really hit their stride (terrible pun intended) with Mirrors Edge, an over-the-top first-person game focused solely on parkour along high-rise buildings. Just recently, Titanfall provides the most accessible and gratifying free-running system, allowing for easy map traversal both vertically and horizontally.

MechRunner looks like it has potential

Titanfall proved that people like mechs (not that there was really any doubt about it), and Spark Plug Games is hoping to take advantage of this with their upcoming MechRunner title for PS4, Vita, PC, Mac and Linux.

Ethan: Meteor Hunter - PS Vita

Ethan: Meteor Hunter does a good job of dressing up an often very difficult fifty levels of puzzle and platforming gaming with an amusing mascot who stumbled onto some very unlikely powers. Ethan has gained the power of telekinesis through contact with a fallen meteor. The story does not do much more than set this up while stating that Ethan sometimes has some issues with his neighboring mouse. No, the focus of this game is on the puzzle-solving itself.

Trials Fusion - Xbox One Review

The announcer in Trials Fusion likes to say: Welcome to the Future. Now that this series is finally on the latest hardware, does it get us there or not?

Trials does so many things well, it is easy to overlook the handful of smaller issues that the game has. It is immediately accessible, but once you have invested some time into it, incredibly challenging as well. It packs excellent visuals with pounding music and clever track design. While not a perfect game, it is still one of the best available for the Xbox One so far.

Trials Fusion - Xbox 360 Review

Racing games have historically been a series of fairly deep simulators that provide numerous facets of maintaining a vehicle on a believable track through sweeping vistas and stormy streets; Trials Fusion bundles up any sense of sincerity and tosses it into the nearest trash receptacle. Speed, insane tricks, and pure hilarity are the primary focus of Trials Fusion.

Child of Light continues to look and sound beautiful

Everything about Child of Light so far has appealed to us. The visual style is certainly distinctive, as we were able to see in screenshots found in this post. This retelling of classic fairy tales seems as though it is absolutely bursting at the seams with potential. Now we get a look at a fully motion trailer and honestly - it is hard not to come away even more impressed.

Warlock 2: The Exiled - PC Review

This turn-based game is an interesting strategy title set in a fantastic world where magic and cunning lend a Civilization-like flair to the proceedings. While not a perfect game, the blend of strategy and options create an interesting final result that is well worth playing if you are a fan of city management and military strategy.

The Bard's Tale - iPhone Review

I am not one to shy away from an RPG game, and The Bard's Tale has been around for a long time. Despite that, I never got around to playing it until somewhat recently when it was a freebie game for iOS. The humor throughout was probably the primary selling point in this classic but still entertaining title.

Lunar: Silver Star Harmony - PSP Review

You know how a good book, movie or game can just hit a soft spot with you no matter how long ago you last read/saw/played it? Lunar is one of those titles for me. The PSP does not get much love anymore, for it is still a great destination for older JRPG tiles, such as this one.

Hazewalker - Metroidvania title with Kickstarter later this year

Hazewalker has not gained a lot of mention yet, but looks like it might have the potential to be an interesting title. Given the story and visuals it has a dark RPG look, though the title itself is described as aiming for a more action style of play. A Kickstarter is slated for later this year and it may well be worth keeping an eye on.

NoScope Demon Series Gaming Glasses Review

Atelier Shallie: Alchemist of the Dusk Sea - Early screenshots of the next in this popular JRPG series

The Atelier series may not have the history that Final Fantasy does, but for many JRPG fans it is still one of the most popular examples of the genre. The art style has always been appealing and it has only gotten better over the last few releases.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends - PS3 Review

I was first introduced to the Dynasty Warriors game with their first release back in 1997, along with Final Fantasy 7, Dynasty Warriors was one of the first games to provide some of the most technologically amazing feats on a console ever. High quality graphics, a ton of playable characters, and man, could it ever through a ton of bad guys waiting to be impaled on your blades your way. Throughout the years I have cherry-picked the Dynasty Warriors games that I have picked up as my interests have changed and I was rarely if ever, let down by the game.

Shining Empire - Kickstarter News on an ambitious retro title

It seems like a new Kickstarter campaign for video games creeps up every few minutes, and it can be hard to discern which ones are worth investing in and not to. I follow a lot of these and yet contribute to very little - but they often serve as an interesting source of games to come. One such title that recently caught our eye was Shining Empire.

Super Motherload - PC Review

XGen Studios is one of the first developers I can think of that had me spending multiple hours playing Flash games. Defend Your Castle, Stick RPG and Motherload (all available on their website) are games I still toy around with, even some 10 years after they were released. The one that really took me by surprise was Motherload - essentially a side scrolling action game, based around the idea of mining for minerals on Mars. Suffice it to say, when I saw that there was a new version of Super Motherload released on Steam,  I was excited.

Child of Light - Preview of what looks to be a gorgeous game

Easily one of our most anticipated titles coming up in April, Child of Light is a new take on classic fairy tales. The screenshots we have seen so far have a gorgeous watercolor look to them as you take the role of Aurora in her quest to recover the sun, moon and stars that were taken prisoner by the Queen of the Night.

Meridian: New World - Preview

My first introduction to the RTS genre was shortly after my birthday near the tail end of 1994; I remember heading up to our not-so-local Babbages, Inc. to pick myself up something fun and interesting. While perusing the racks I found a computer game that had a pretty stellar picture of a gruff man who looked almost like a pirate and an ugly green orcish looking thing staring daggers at one another. I thoroughly enjoyed the box art and the description with screen shots on the box and I thought to myself "Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, huh? Sounds neat." When I got home and installed it I was immediately hooked; I have been a fan of the RTS genre ever since.

Mario Kart 8 - Screenshots and preview

Mario Kart will forever be a favorite series of mine. I first spent lots of time with the series back on Mario Kart 64, when that title along with other classics such as Madden and GoldenEye took over college living rooms on a regular basis. Many a good time was had when someone used a lightning bolt (and the person triggering it shouted "Be Small!" to the rest of the room, inevitably eliciting a series of groans from anyone unfortunate enough not to be invincible due to a star at the time) and shortcuts were tried (and often failed).

Destiny of Spirits - PlayStation Vita Review

On paper, Destiny of Spirits hits so many check boxes along the way that it seems like it would be a must-buy from me the day it came out. Then I discovered it was a free-to-play game, and I had an interesting sensation. Would it be a spectacular value, or would it nickel and dime me into submission? It is interesting how a free-to-play game can completely change your expectations, but that is what happened here.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation - Preview

Vehicular combat is a genre that is not delved into that much these days. Sure, there are the "arcadey" racing games like Burnout or Flatout which entirely eschew weapons, or the odd kart racer, but they just fail scratch the same itch. There was a time when games like Twisted Metal, Vigilante 8, Interstate ‘76, and Carmageddon gave you that real thrill of being in a machine built for destruction. It would seem that Stainless Games - the original creator of Carmageddon - felt that same itch, and decided to take it upon themselves to fill that void.

Bravely Default - Game Guide

Bravely Default recently released for the Nintendo 3DS, and it was in many ways a typical JRPG. That of course means there are various systems, things to find and other secrets worth digging into. Having spent a little over seventy hours with the game, I stumbled onto a good number of tricks to make life easier when playing the game, and I thought I would pass them along to others.

Deception IV: Blood Ties - PS Vita Review

The original Deception remains one of my fondest video game memories. I never got the chance to play parts two or three, but the first one was an absolute gem when it released on PlayStation. I had never heard of it prior to its release, but the premise was unique on several fronts - both from a story perspective as well as the gameplay itself. Fast forward to now, and we have the latest iteration of this series seeing its release on both PlayStation 3 and Vita.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition - PS4 Review

That is quite the title there, and similarly there is a lot going on with the game as well. With a ton of different modes and options, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition is every bit as hefty a game offering as the name would suggest. Of course if the gameplay itself fails to measure up, heaps of content will not matter much in the end. As a newcomer to the series, I am happy to report that I had a great time with it.
