Highlights from E3 - Part 4

With a household of gamers of varying ages and interests, I find myself considering a lot of titles that might not immediately appeal to me.  That's not to say that Forza or Kingdom Hearts titles are bad games, but they are not ones I would give much thought to when there are announcements and trailers released.  However, knowing that my youngest daughter loves LittleBigPlanet or my son enjoys all things Call of Duty, I find myself examining games more closely than I might otherwise do - and occasionally find myself pleasantly surprised when I do.

My oldest?  She mostly plays games like The Sims, but she absolutely loves games with unique artwork too.  She might not play, but she will plop down next to me and watch me play, which can be fun too because it gets us sitting together and talking as we pass the time.  One such title I think will appeal to her is...

Ni No Kuni

An RPG with a very distinctive style, visually the game just grabs my eye whenever I see footage or screenshots.  However, in the trailer shown below, the gameplay looks pretty solid too.  This is a game I have been posting about on Otaku Gaming as well whenever I get information on it, so if you too are interested in it, that might be a good place to look for my updates.

 Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

I thought Transformers: War for Cybertron was a lot of fun.  As a result, the upcoming Fall of Cybertron is one I have been watching whenever new tidbits of information comes out.  Well the footage shown this week looks awesome in my opinion and I am looking forward to more.

Dead or Alive 5

I am a longtime fan of fighting games, though relatively new to the Dead or Alive series.  I played Dead or Alive 4 on my Xbox 360 shortly after getting the console and then picked up Dimensions for my Nintendo 3DS and found that I enjoyed both games quite a bit.  As a result?  Dead or Alive 5 is one I want to keep an eye on as well.

LittleBigPlanet Karting

I have fiddled with the LittleBigPlanet games in the past, at least briefly, and while I can appreciate the tools available within them (and would have absolutely loved as a kid when my only way to create game material was to muddle around in BASIC to create what amounted to Choose Your Own Adventure games), I just do not get into any of the LittleBigPLanet games.

That being said?  My son likes these games in limited doses, and one of my nieces really enjoys them, and my youngest daughter feels that they are among the greatest games ever made.  She also likes Mario Kart and Mod Nation Racers.  Anyone willing to do an over/under on the liklihood that LittleBigPlanet Karting finds its way into my home?  Seriously, the game looks cute and the minds behind it have put together some impressive stuff in the past, so it is definitely worth keeping an eye on this game as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man

My household is made up of comic book junkies - sort of.  I was really the only one who grew up reading comics like Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men and so on.  That being said, most of the movies are quite popular in my household (anyone heard of a little movie called Avengers?  Yeah, we saw it twice...), and while comic book-based games can be pretty hit or miss (Marvel Alliance and Batman?  Awesome.  However more games go wrong than right), this one is looking pretty cool so far.

Another batch of games, more money I'll no doubt be spending over the next year or so.  Thoughts?

  1. Nothing. Didn't click "play" on any, thought the first game's image made me think, "A Boy and His Blob?"
The Transformers game maybe, but I didn't play the last one (or any of them), so I can't say I'll be picking this one up.

  2.  Haha, the first one is more RPG than Boy and his Blob.  The Transformers games, there's two streams of them it seems.  the majority of them try to be movie tie-ins, and those have been pretty lousy.  The War for Cybertron one was really cool though in my opinion, and handled by a different studio and in a different way, which is what this game is a sequel to, and why I'm more interested in it than most transformers games
